I had an English teacher with a similar passion. He once made me teachers pet for choosing the word "Jalopy" in a little assessment about our favourite words, was a random dictionary stop and not the favourite word I'd claimed it to be, the first attempt at a random word returned "Sputnik", didn't want to write about that, though.

MY point is it's not the swearing It's your inconsistent, schoolmasterish policing of the policy when most other mods tolerate or even manipulate the swear-filter themselves that gets people's backs up.

In America, they do something funny with quotation and punctuation marks. I've always put punctuation outside of quotation rightly so, I was dumbfounded when my new copy of word underlined it in green and suggested I change it.
"some text here". - My way.
"some more text here." - American way.
Odd, aren't they. All was well once I adjusted the language.

I have the support of the mods on this board over this and I have been consistant.
What other mods do on other boards is up to them.

You're [istill[/i missing the point. I'm not bothered about swearing. Read my posts. I don't generally feel the need. This isn't about swearing, it's about you being bossy. People don't like feeling they have to dodge the blackboard rubber when they post.

It causes resentment and an inevitable backlash of childish behaviour. It makes you [iwant[/i to swear so you can trump the strict headmaster. (Look [iI[/i did it then. I could have said "triumph over" but I said "trump" instead because it sounds a bit rude and you bring out the badness in me . )
