| Quote Dave K.="Dave K."On paper very good signing, although I'm sure that was said about Sheens.
Probably the best you could get at this time, strange that it is only for the rest of year, surely it isn't until Ford comes in, as that would be a massive downgrade.
I think you would have stayed up anyway, but it will be interesting to see if there is any long term improvement at Rovers under Smith.'"
If we stay up he stays,2/3 years.

| Was told the plan for next year was Smith DOR and Ford as coach. But in interview Smith doesn't rule out being Head Coach after this season? Certainly a shame Sheens left but I think he had a fair say in going early despite insinuations by gutter journalist. Overall something had to be done. Results/defence/stats just couldn't be allowed to plod on. Should be a big change in attitude and Smith is a more positive type of coach. Sunday will tell us a bit more 're players mindset.

| Good appointment. He'll arrive with no favourites so the likes of Atkin may get a fair crack of the whip.

| Was waiting for general bellendery comment from one of the usual suspects and wasn't disappointed. I'd be more worried about their own players behaviour in takeaways again

| While Tim Sheens, in my humble opinion, had got rovers playing a neat, drop of style of play, with a lot centred round Mags, he has been hampered this year with injuries to key players Quinlan, Lunt, etc.
Unfortunately the Wire game in the cup, was his swan song, owing especially to the lack of composure from rovers in this game, which should have ended Wires cup dreams.
Tony Smith is a proven respected coach, and apparently has found his desire for the game again, who, if given time, and investment, will only improve you.
This season, if these rumours are to be believed, we may see a merry go round of coaches.
Leeds are rumoured to be linked with Powell.
Agar joining Smith again.
Justin Morgan looking for work, and Wigan with Lamb not as yet, securing his position.
Danny Ward has shown his competency, with Watson and Radders, coming through the usual doubts.
So if possible, without a clipboard being wrote on in this new tenure, rovers should pull the trigger, and get this proven ambassador who is relatively young, and in touch with the modern game, signed sealed and delivered, before London, Leeds, Cas, Wigan etc come calling for 2020.

| Smith was very good for us during his time with the wire. Obviously he had the benefit of strong financial backing but he brought us success when others had failed. In the end he stayed a little too long and lost his love for the game (I think that Warrington was his longest period at one club). He's probably had sufficient time out to recharge his batteries whilst not loosing touch all together. I'm sure that all at Warrington wish him well, we just hope that success doesn't come until after we meet you (although we'll all be cheering you on against Wigan this weekend).
