| I think Green's shoulder charge was more of a careless late bump rather than an all out late malicious hit. Given the size differential between the two, in some ways it was inevitable there would be secondary contact to the head. Outcome, 1 match EGP ban for Green, and Burns is still a dick.

You're right, thanks for providing the comparison.
So what we've established is that one player (who didn't openly state his dislike for his "victim"icon_wink.gif gets the equivalent of five matches for a high tackle.
Then another gets one match for a high tackle that leaves a player's face fractured in several places and apparently has the class to claim he didn't like his victim anyway.
Good stuff.

Wonder why travis got a huge ban in australia was it 17 matches, and hasnt he just served a ban for a head high tackle on justin carney ? Get those blinkers off.

| James Green is a lucky boy to get away with such a light sentence for this. RFL sentencing guidelines are allowed to take into account any injury sustained and I suspect his EGP may have prevented the panel from going outside (i.e. a longer ban) the suggested sanction for a Grade B.
Taking away who the victim was, and the fact it was one of our own, there would have been a much higher level of condemnation on here for this. The only thing in James' favour is his previous good record. I can only recall 1 previous ban (lifting knee in tackle at Bradford in one of his very early games). I hope he kicks on to become an international standard prop (the potential is there, as good as Walmsley IMO), but I don't want a thug in the side.

| Green did a late shoulder charge on travis,2 matches reduced to one because of his EGP,his 1st offence, travis's record suggest he is no angel, the longest ban in aussie history and you say you dont want a thug in your side.Did you complain the last 2 seasons when he played for us ?

1. Are you absolutely certain that Burn's ban was the longest in Aussie history, or are you winging it again?
2. Burns was a hard, physical player for Rovers, I don't recall him causing anyone a significant injury in his time here. Please correct me if I'm wrong.
3. As per my previous comment, what relevance has Burn's past record, or indeed his perceived personal traits go to do with Green's ban?
As for not wanting a thug in the side, I don't, and more specifically, I don't want Green to develop into one. Strong, hard runner, yes, but not a forward who takes out half backs, the props union would not approve. Note, this also applies to Allgood, but his reputation followed him half way round to globe and cost him a 2nd match.

| Green made a late shoulder charge on burns,at the time if you were there it didnt look to bad, after watching it on telly it looked far worse. He probably should have got sent off,but it is one isolated incident in a young career,of course we dont when him or any rovers player to be a thug, but it seems he took plenty of stick off burns and probably saw the chance to even the score.Burns was one of my favourite players in oz and here, but is not exactly an angel. You say he didnt cause anybody any major injury while at rovers, not sure on that, but if you tackle high you will injure people.
Larroyer didnt get a broken cheek bone at warrington having a half time cup of tea,but I dont recall anyone pulled up about it.Green deserved his ban and thats it,as regards burns being the longest ban in aussie history for on the field offences,if it wasn't iam sure you will tell us what was.Possibly john hopoate ?

| Triple fracture of the cheekbone , Burns out for several months.
Green gets one match.
That's a disgrace.
Cheap dog shots from east Hull.
No surprise really.

Did you get rid of all the voices in your head? Do you now miss them and the things that they said?: |

Why is it "no surprise"?

30596_1286642206.jpg If there is no struggle, there is no progress. Those who profess to favor freedom, and yet depreciate agitation, are men who want crops without plowing up the ground. They want rain without thunder and lightning. They want the ocean without the awful roar of its many waters. This struggle may be a moral one; or it may be a physical one; or it may be both moral and physical; but it must be a struggle.

| Green has been lucky. But I doubt very much he set out to intentionally cause this injury to Burns, throughout Green's entire Rovers career his biggest criticism has been his lack of aggression for a lad of his size. I think he meant to hurt him, but when you play RL every single hit you put on an opponent you want to hurt them, it's a contact sport. I'm not condoning it, it was wrong and he should have walked. The fact he's got one game is just the way the disciplinary is set up.
I'm not a fan of Burns and I wasn't particularly a fan of him when he was here, but I do wish him a speedy recovery.
