| I don't know why everyone is on CS's back over his comment(s).
I ask this question - is he wrong?
Look at every one of the fans forums on this site and you will read a constant flow of criticism and bewilderment over referees decisions and performances.
IMO CS is right to imply the performance by Alibert was embarrassing for the modern game, and as CS quite rightly points out, an embarrassment to those who employ him - the RFL; who week on week condone this level of refereeing. NB: The announcement of Ganson as a referee training instructor is IMO another embarrassment.
The thing is, the RFL have been over-protecting the officials to the point they cannot be criticised. In fact, both the officials and the RFL cannot be criticised. To me that reinforces the fact they know how poor the standard is.
Its time for the clubs to take action and sort this mess out, and its time for the fans to have their say. IMO being protected by the RFL is not working. What is needed is an 'independent' panel of officials who are accountable to the clubs and fans. It might result in an initial fest of criticism but over time it has the potential of raising standards.

Refs are like the weather - often poor, but there is not much that can be done to significantly improve the situation. And it rains on everybody from time to time. When it is your turn, there's little point in complaining - it is maybe a reason to avoid a knee-jerk reaction to your own performance, is all.
Tough job in which only your mistakes are remembered.
If I watch a game as a neutral, I rarely think the ref is [iterrible[/i - though I will admit there are occasional exceptions. But even then it sometimes evens out over 80 minutes and certainly should over 27 matches. I sometimes feel like there is a slight unconscious bias towards the big clubs, but then they're the teams most likely to capitalise on any decisions going their way.

| Quote Jake the Peg="Jake the Peg"Are you another of zod's alter ego's?
I've watched the tries on SL full time and can't see this 4 metre forward pass he's talking about. The final pass from dobson for your try on the hooter looked pretty suspect though'"
No idea who that is. But please point out where i suggested this was a forward pass? It was as flat as pretty much all passes these days. I noted the performance, you chose to assume i agreed with the exact comment of sandercock, for mine the pass is one of those, some pull them (and home sided feel agreeved), some dont, other side dont like it. Issue is all the little things that dont go right. Rovers are far from perfect and think you'll find i noted that Hudds were easily the better side, no intention of trying to deflect that, i simply agreed that the officals performance was embarrasing (the one thing i didnt add was the amount he missed that hudds could have got, its a complete lack of consistency and ability at the moment, he isnt the only one).

| Quote Durham Giant="Durham Giant"At the game i thought that he had got that wrong but someone pointed out he signalled a one on one strip hence not a knock on so no advantage.
Hence i think the decision was right if anything the problem is that Aliberts signals are not always the best but i think the decision was right.'"
As its almost a week ago and ive no reason to put myself through another series of walk through tries , ill take your word for such. I thinking back thought it was a kick that was dropped, maybe it was caught and then an attempted strip, too far away. That would be a big complaint pulled away. If thats right then its the right decision and fair play, just didnt see it as so during the game, even Dobson went and collected the ball, so even those on the field didnt see the strip. Shall i be a complete turn around and ask if it was even a strip

| Quote jools="jools"We were 8pts up and we were giving a correct penalty for crossing. Are you suggesting that because our players didnt stop what they were doing (defending) and indicate to the ref that an infringement had been made then there wasn't an infringement? A forward pass that never was and an advantage that never was since the ball was knocked out of robbos hands one on one. Alibert didn't have a perfect game- but there were no gamechangers to the tune of twenty points, or even 2. he missed a few high shots, a bit of holdingdown / offside, but not favouring any particular side. If sandercock is suggesting that the officials performance was so terrible can we have the ones you've had every week until now please.'"
Just a couple of points with this. Might seem over cooked, but there have been a number of decisions that have either failed to go our way, or big 50-50s that don't, so he is on a downer with the officials, mainly because they get so much wrong. Can be frustrated one week but when it is every week, something has to give. He is human, and to be honest having come from the nrl with 2 referee's and a decent standard, there is no comparisson, be the same as super league to ameatur rugby, dare say a few of those referee's could do the same standard of job, only thing missing would be fitness.
But thats the difference, there is always going to be the winning sides view, which will never mirror the other, you dont focus on any negative when you win and things go for you? You were always going to score points later on, you had double the possession in the first half and attacked well, so that was always going to count towards the end, plus been organised always helps! As for a turning point, 8pts up and given a penalty rightly so for crossing? come on, watch any game, on the line, every single team sends people through, we didnt touch or impede any of your players, if anything the player who shot off the line to go towards dobson was offside? but again, see whats needed. i never suggested your players should stop defending, but when you have brough and robinson, 2 of the biggest moaners in the game stood there and they normally shout for literally everything! and they say nothing and you'd actually carried on, says something about the decision, the only person who thought it was was terry, and that says it all really, hence the comments. Its all done now anyways, Hudds easily deserved the win, if we can learn to defend, respect the ball and somehow not get penalised to 10-15 times a game, we might be able to actually run you guys close.

CS may well be right but Alibert would be well within his rights to point out that much more embarrassing is coaching a team to an 84-6 home defeat.

Predictable, less than Brian McDermott got fined recently though. Did McDermott have previous? Or was there some justification for Sandercocks comments?
Nathan Brown's been given the same fine as McDermott.
