| Quote Mrs Barista="Mrs Barista"I'm sure there are some old Tommy Lee slagoffathon threads on here somewhere. Might pass some time on the long winter nights dredging them up.

I think the first port of call for slagoffathons about Hull FC players is usually the Hull FC forum. The 'Faithful' really do get stuck in.

Although with the obvious improvements in training techniques he will get that is bound to happen

Indeed. Not me usually, although Thorman and Agar are providing a stern test.
I like Tommy Lee, but he's one of those players who'd be more at home in a very good NL1 side than a SL side (which is why he's been OK for us this season ). Had some shockers last season, but has shown good attitude and application to come back from said slagoffathons last year. Better at hooker than SH for sure. Can do a job in the back row also. Like someone's said, though, why get rid of a homegrown player in Kirk Netherton to then sign Lee - doesn't make any sense.

Simple - Tommy is a much better player than Kirk, plus Kirk contributed to his own downfall at Rovers if Easty is to be beleived.
FWIW Tommy can cut in SL imo, and with a decent coach and decent players around him he could be quite a player. He has superb passing skills and tackles way above his weight. I think he'd be a great signing for Rovers.
Also much as i like your contrubutions Mrs B, i'd stick to the number crunching dear
ps - Stop flirting with Digger

| I hope we get Halatua - international hooker who can cover other positions if necessary.
We have to keep pushing the envelope if we are to break into the top-two.

| Halatau is gash, as are all the others mentioned aside from Diskin, (who will be the best British , game controlling hooker, in the world of Rugby League once Cunningham retires),
Anybody who doesnt think Rovers need to strengthen at hooker is a simpleton at best.., i love Fish and have done since he destroyed us whilst at Fax , however Ben is not, and never will be, a top class, international standard hooker, i think i could name 20 or 30 better playing on either side of the world (and none of the proposed signings are one of them)..
Rovers have had their best season in 20 + years, since the great side of 85/86, but are still some way off the top sides, (hope i`m proved wrong but i have yet to see Rovers do it in a game that counts at the top level, the play off semi should tell us)
If true Rovers fans really want to be back at the VERY TOP, i am afraid the Fishers, Dobsons, Welhams, aint ever gonna win any medals...they are good players but not top class...how good do Rovers want to be..??

You had me there for a minute until you mentioned Dobson, just answer me this, who is SL top points scorer, who is SL top kicker, who is running away with the Albert Goldthorpe medal, who do nearly every team pick as the man to stop in the Rovers side.

| simply compare his medals , 1st team NRL matches , state of origin, city v country, or international appearances to any of the other superior quality scrum halves in world RL..
exactly what i mean , just because a guy plays for Rovers doesnt mean he is the best ever, if they all were we would be top of the league and in the CC semi finals would we not....
if we ever want to be the absolute best some Red and white blinkers need to be dispensed with...

If we were to do what you say and clear the team out, Dobson would be one of the last I would get rid of. May not be the best in defence and may have a few off games (who doesn't) but his kicking game is superb and he is generally just a great 7. Agree with you on the Welham part though, good lad but always runs out the line.

You talking crap, He's 22, where is his medals coming from, So your reckoning is that if a player isn't playing in a team that wins one of only two comps, he's crap, and look who kept him out of the team at Canberra, and tell me this how many players get picked for State of Origin games or their country while they play in the UK, nearly all his adult playing career has been at Rovers Wigan or Catalans, your argument is flawed on so many levels, answer me this who is currently the best 7 in SL.

| No team clearance required, more an addition of quality. I just want to see Rovers win things again within my lifetime, unless Justin can really turn water to wine i dont see this happening with the current crop..
We had a little window in which we had the opportunity to win the Challenge cup, we were not good enough...., with Galea more or less certain to leave , Cooke underused and seeing his contract out , and seemingly no top class hooker coming in, unforutnately i truly believe this is our peak season for now...as much as it grates , and as much as i think they are very poor, i would wager FC reverse roles with us next year..

| i would think last Saturday proved to anyone with RL knowledge that Berrigan (the australian international hooker and centre ) is a better scrum half than Dobson,
i would also say that anyone who thinks he is better than (and more importantly better value for money than) Sherwin, Eastmond, Long, Briers, Burrow, Brough, Myler , Orr and Robinson is deluded..
