| Quote: Mild Rover "NH was clear earlier in the year that ST was part of our long term plans and the club wanted him to agree a new deal, so I don't think it is a sale born of economic necessity. We apparently just weren't in his, which is his choice.
But if he isn't going to be part of that long-term future, then selling now makes sense. Everybody gets to move on sooner and we get some cash.'"
Even taking out the wages part, Hudgell has said you're skint, will be blooding younger players before they're really ready and doesn't know if he'll go round again. Hardly compelling for a young international to commit his long term future to, less so when Wigan are interested, even less so if the deal is not at market value. Doom and gloom commentary and inherent uncertainty could compromise the business of attracting quality players and sponsors. At least articulate a new 5 year gameplan.

| you don't half type some turd.
if you had the opertunity to talk to the man himself, none of what you type would apply.
edit, MR.
as for taylor, it's unfortunate, but out of our hands now, cash in before he goes for free.

| Not knowing how Hudgell has dealt with this, it`s good business sense to cash in now. Taylor, obviously doesnt have the heart to play at rovers, which, lets be frank have made him into the player he is today. So no loyalty there then! But we all know when the cash is there right in front of you, it`s hard to say no, just like the Galea situation. I just hope that the likes of Cox, Greene, Salter, Sheriff, Hodgeson and the like when put in this position (and they most surely will). Have the backing of the club in all forms, and some sence of loyalty toward it.

Tbf, I think we have - though it hasn't been very [iclearly[/i articulated, I admit, and it may be refined in light of this and the board discussions that were/are taking place.
I suspect we offered him a good financial package, but realistically we can't offer the sporting opportunities that Wigan can.

Loyalty is for fans. Clubs and players have to be hard nosed and look to better themselves (How loyal were we to Jon Goddard or James Webster or any number of others?). We have to work hard to make ourselves as attractive as possible to them. We've done that so far by paying top-end wages to get to mid-table-ish in recent seasons. That's the 'glass ceiling', as NH puts it, that we've hit. We need to see if we can do the same for less and then go from there - noses might be put out of joint, on both sides, as some tough choices need to be made, but really they shouldn't be. It's just business.

| Tuson won't be part of any player exchange deal apparently. The alternatives suggested by Wigan fans are spectacularly underwhelming - though obviously I'll pretend that CS 'must have seen something in them' and 'it could be a shrewd bit of business' if they're confirmed.
Bryn Hargreaves was vaguely rumoured a while back iirc and looks like just about the only half way decent fed-trained, experinced, ooc option - after that we might as well just go with the youngsters.

| I'd sooner not take another back rower as part of the deal. Hard cash only, or a speedy outside back thank you. We would appear to be ok with back row options next year, providing we don't have an horrendous run of injuries. Would Tuson really be any better than Horne or Cox (assuming Mika & Paterson are the 2 starting 2nd rowers)?

| Who writes this utter rubbish?
Quote: a talentless imbecile at the local comic "Now, sources at KR have hinted the 21-year-old second-rower could be about to follow Blake Green to the DW Stadium.'"
Has he played a single game at 2nd row for us since 2010?

As bad as the "journalism" is, what worries me more, is the creatures that write the comments at the bottom of it, are actually out there walking the streets, truly frightening!
