hate to admit it but dobson has been the best 7 in s.l this year.brough is good on his day but does bring baggage wherever he goes.i dont think deacon has a great handling game n burrows is more of a great evasive support player(not that he isnt a good 7 tho).the only way thorman would be a 7 would be in union(a right flanker i believe)

Brough would get in any SL team as would Dobson. IMO these two are the best halfs in SL. They are both hubs of creation fortheir respective teams. Cant choose between the two really. Every game brough has been head and shoulders above oppossition half backs bar the odd game.

On form brough being elegible should be a GB halfback in world cup..but it rarely goes on form icon_lol.gif

Quote: vastman "Brough is better than all of em but you won't be able to accept that one will you brough is different ill give you that,

id take long as a traditional scrum half, and burrow for the way he fits into the leeds team over brough and dobson,

Dobson would be the last of the four, isnt as good as long or brough and different to burrow

its just unfortunate that for the most part halfbacks in SL are poor

Yes, I agree

Top Points scorer in the league

More trys than Burrow, Long and Brough

More try assists than Burrow, Long and Brough

I can't understand why we keep picking him

i cant believe such a simple point confused you

crikey moses

btw, i would ignore most of the publicly available stats, especially the ones on try assists which seems to have no criteria whatsoever

So he scores more trys and creates more trys than the three scrum halfs who are apparently better than him

Not to mention the 4 40/20s he's kicked as well as the fact the media will present him with the Albert Goldthorpe medal should he avoid a card in tomorrows game.

He'll be the 7 in the dream team and like Burrow will appear in this seasons grand final

Burrow is a very good player, his game is very different to that of Dobson in fact he's not so much an organiser more of an off the cuff genius but this season Dobson is in the much better form of the two

and these are the only criteria by which idiots judge a scrum half,

also would this be the 'creating more try' statistic that somehow has Ali Lauitiiti creating one try all season?

Quote: MrPhilb "Not to mention the 4 40/20s he's kicked as well as the fact the media will present him with the Albert Goldthorpe medal should he avoid a card in tomorrows game.'"
which surely shows the ridiculous the criteria for the albert goldthorpe medal is,

considering in both of its years a scrum half for a 'lesser' (note the inverted commas) team has won it, maybe the award in itself is weighted in favour of that type of player?

Quote: MrPhilb "He'll be the 7 in the dream team and like Burrow will appear in this seasons grand final'"
would this be the SL dream team which rated George Carmont as a better centre than Senior? and Ade Gardner as one of the best two wingers in SL

Quote: MrPhilb "Burrow is a very good player, his game is very different to that of Dobson in fact he's not so much an organiser more of an off the cuff genius but this season Dobson is in the much better form of the two'"
you are correct, they are very different players, Dobson in the Leeds team would offer nothing we dont already have from Sinfield and Mcguire,

Dobson is a much more traditional Scrum half who is more comparable to Long or Brough, Long is class act who dominates Saints, and they are going to miss him massively next year, Pryce (imo) is a nothing player at Stand Off, he is superfluous, he takes a winning saints from winning by ten points to winning by thirty but goes missing in close games, i woudl certainly go for long ahead of Dobson,

Brough is a different kettle of fish, depends on what you want, on his day brough is better and he doesnt seem to be phased by a big occassion, Dobson is more consistant, Brough can win a game single handedly and also be absolutely atrocious, Dobson needs a good workmanlike pack to be anything

i wouldnt have any of them in the leeds team though because they simply wouldnt fit into the way leeds play

not really, any that are open to interpretation should be ignored

the only ones i would put faith in are metres made, trys scored, tackles made, etc, the ones which either are or arent,

the try assist one especially seems to be just picked out of a hat
