| Win or lose Goldenpoint in regular season should be point to loser and 2 for Victory. But throw in players forced retirements. First 2/3rds of season injury ravaged. Change of coach. Floodlight collapse.small squad 1 fit prop for months.Saints only losing 3 games 2 of which London with weak squads.Umpteen chances to avoid last day shoot out it's been hell of a season again. Some good days along the way but ultimately glad it's over.. Suspect things will slowly get better but long journey ahead.Thankfull it's not derailed by another relegation. Smith kept us up so credit there.

This idea has been previously considered and rejected by the NRL who incidentally are reviewing GP again ahead of the 2020 season.
Congratulations on retaining you SL status making half of my rugby league following family in Hull very happy(and relieved!).

| Cheers. We stumbled across the line but suppose the only thing that mattered was stay up.
Will enjoy watching the remaining games and see who we sign and what these rumoured improvements are? Hudge and Smith deserve our thanks . After being at MPG 2016 then this fiasco season another relegation wouldn't have been terminal but would again set us back.

Three league points available for a game that goes to GP has the potential create unfairness and even contrived results. I’ve seen it mentioned a few times and I understand the sentiment, but it should be a complete non-starter imo. I’m surprised the NRL even considered it.
I know that games are worth 2 or 3 points overall for a drawn and won match in association football, but there is no situation in which both teams benefit from the extra point available.
Overall, I don’t think GP adds much, apart from making PD matter more, and i’d be happy to see it binned for league matches. It was nice to win one against Cas and that balances out yesterday. It just feels like a solution to a problem that doesn’t really exist.
Thanks for the congrats - they’re appreciated.

I feel for London too. They’ve outperformed most peoples’ expectations by a sizeable margin and done it with a really good spirit and a real team effort. Huge credit to Danny Ward and his squad. Shown up a few teams as well, frankly, including Rovers.
The difficulty for them is that team will be broken up. The team of the man who I think might just pip Ward to coach of the year, Ian Watson, is also losing key players. It is tough on a tight budget but they seem to have embraced that and made the best of it, and a single good season stays in the record books and is still worth it for the memories.

To be fair, a few are leaving you guys, but I get the feeling Smith would have been able to keep them if he wanted to. I wanted Wakefield to go down, too many years of lies about a new ground etc.

Can you explain it to me and Tony Smith then as he certainly thinks London going down is more than just, and so do I , but feel free to suggest who should have gone down instead as I am intrigued to know who

Do you mean we’re losing players we’d have wanted to keep? Or that there are some we could keep but we’re choosing not to?
If the former...
Atkin maybe, but an Atkin-Abdull hb combination wouldn’t be exactly frightening opponents. I don’t think another season of playing back-up is what Atkin needs, and I suspect being back on the other side of the Pennines suits him. Drinkwater might have been better bedded in and with a pre-season under his belt, and his injury record stands in stark contrast to many of our players. Non-fed status likely counted against him if it was Rovers’ choice, our not being able to offer job security if it was his - it’d be a close call as to which is more likely and it’ll be interesting to see where he is in 2020. After that, there are some good lads who can help fill out a SL squad or be high-end Championship players, but none with a really compelling reason to retain them, other than ‘is there better available to us?’. We are where we are for a reason.
I think the difference from Salford and London is that our team and in some ways even the culture needs, if not breaking up, then at least shaking up.

Feeling sorry for London's relegation is a different issue to feeling some other club should have been relegated. London were relegated because they finished in 12th place. Suggesting a different team as you
want me to do is pointless. If you cannot see this maybe you should spend less time with Spregs.

The commiserations bit I concur with, however the undeserving bit I was asking why as with the free hits on saints academy surely distorts the table somewhat don’t you think? , me and Tony think so.
