| What's all this about defensive structures all load of crap
If you don't move up in a line as we found loads of time with Welham when shot line leaving a gap an under 8 could have spotted you have no chance
Never let a man get outside you especially wingers how many times do we see our wingers 10 yards in from the side line and the opposition get round them,if you stand on your line he has to come in and the cover takes his centre or who ever is there.
This structure so called defensive systems are a load of sxxxe take your man half the players can't think for themselves, too much crap in there heads don't go there you must be here rubbish take your man that's your job balls to anyone else if I do my job and everyone does there's the defence will work

Is it poor structures or more that it's hard to maintain structures when you're not winning the collision and getting trampled?

Makes you wonder why Pearson decided to merge with Rovers youth if it is the way forwards.
I thought both clubs stated that it was a cost cutting exercise.

| Ill-discipline and unforced errors crucified Rovers today gifting Warrington four tries. TBH I couldn't fault Rovers effort but every time they got on the front foot someone undid it and fair play to the opposition they capitalised on it. I wouldn't have minded if Warrington had pressurised Rovers into the errors but they didn't. Whilst he wasn't the only culprit Horne had a stinker (the captaincy is too much of a burden IMO). Overall the lack of nous at FB and hooker showed. We need Campo and Lunt/Boudebza back and to solve the FB dilemma I would play Kelly there once Marsh gets back. After all this there were two positives; Lawler showed what a grafter he is (although he struggled at 9, which was to be expected) and once again Blair looked a clas act in the halves.

Catalans - Frayssinous - First HC Job
Widnes - Betts - First HC Job
Salford - Watson - First HC Job
Leeds - McDermott - Made the play-offs for Harlequins.'"
Betts was head coach at Wigan for a while iirc. But your general point, I accept. Chester had a good long apprenticeship, I don't think that is the problem especially.

| Quote: Mild Rover "The model that has seen Leeds, Wigan and Saints be successful is in having more money to spend across the board than anybody else. Youth is only part of that. You can spend your way to success, the failure of koucash to do so yet does not show it to be impossible. Moran has done okay at Warrington, after a couple of false starts. Our own short-termism yielded relative success in 2009 and 2010. Pearson has said he is paying more than ever on player wages this year, and has cashed in on Lineham and Westerman to invest in experienced Polynesians. The invest in youth line - well there's some truth in it, but on the keys to success list, realistically it is down at about number 5 or 6. It doesn't help that we've not produced much talent, but it hasn't been our most problematic issue.
There's a gap between what people want to be true (you can't buy success, investing in youth is key, there's loads of talent in the championship) and what is true (you can, it isn't and there's a good deal more in Polynesia). The important thing is we know which is which and plan accordingly.'"
You can't buy long term success in RL. The 2 most successful sides in the early SL years were bradford and saints, both of whom completely flouted the salary cap and spent what they wanted. One nearly went bust and is now playing 2nd tier rugby and the other was only saved by virtue of having enough value in their old ground to move and clear their debts.
leeds are the most successful side in SL history and by far the most since the salary cap was being policed more effectively (although not completely as we all know) and their model has been to use home grown players (and they were extremely fortunate to have 3 or 4 top class ones who hung around for a decade or more) plus adding in good quality UK and overseas players. They haven't been big spenders at all.
The other recent successful side has been wigan, who are a model for basing yous team on home grown talent.
wire spent big, had 3 or 4 decent seasons (although never won SL) and then it all fell apart. Only by spending big again do they look to have a competitive team again.
You're right about the value in polynesian players though

The outcome of the decision will not be seen for at least 3 years.
FC had the better academy. Probably why the FC fans were more outraged.

| How do people think Cox went, not necessarily how good he was today but attitudinal?
He seems like a good lad to have in camp, the players, coaches, backroom staff seem to really love the guy, plus the 3 games I've seen him play Leigh/Leeds/KR he's got on with his job and been a good steady eddy.

Always looked like a pudding who was more interested in assing about than playing rugby when he was at rovers. Like a slightly poorer man's mcarthey-scarsbrook

Saw the teammates questions video featuring your guys last week. Cox still as thick as pigshi*t and the butt of everybody's jokes. He's a gobby get and an easy target, but he is a big unit with tons of potential. Hope he kicks on.

30596_1286642206.jpg If there is no struggle, there is no progress. Those who profess to favor freedom, and yet depreciate agitation, are men who want crops without plowing up the ground. They want rain without thunder and lightning. They want the ocean without the awful roar of its many waters. This struggle may be a moral one; or it may be a physical one; or it may be both moral and physical; but it must be a struggle.

He will do, for a bit.
He thinks he's some sort of comedian, used to knock about with Burns when he was at Rovers, both a pair of illiterate thicko's.
That said, he does have RL talent, he made some powerful runs today and was clearly and correctly looking to make a point.
He also today played low minutes which has been an issue since amateur days, according to a Hull fan, Dave K, I think who is a reliable witness.
Overall, I thought our effort was good.
We got hammered in the first thirty in the penalty count but we also made a heinous amount of errors, you cannot put so much ball down and expect to win. If Wire had been vaguely at the races we could have shipped sixty today.
The forwards are trying hard, don't believe the Tilse hater's, it's as much that apart from Blair, the backs are just not executing.
