| Quote: barham red "And watts and latus... Kids are not the answer at the moment. Yes we should have developed a few more but unless the senior players are playing well the kids will just get hung out to dry. You need to bring kids in steadily and ease them in, now is not the time...'"
.
yep your right, kids are not the answer.....
.
neither is continually playing a player at half back that is not a half back.
to me this is where the balance of the team is going badly wrong, as much as we all love murrell, he simply is not a half back and should be put back to his natural position of loose forward.
we now lose briscoe to injury so either hall or cockayne or welham will step in that position, personally i would say cockayne as he has more experience of that position.
.
we have a young lad called kris bell that could step into the halfback role, people have said it will do his confidence no good if he plays badly, well morgs to me showed he was a little 2 faced the other week when he was quoted as saying that he would give bell some runs out in the second half of the season, now correct me if i`m wrong but dobbo will be back then and thus bell will still not get into the team, so a little two faced of morgs to state that.
we need bell in the team now to start addressing some of the balance.
whether he plays badly or not
WE SURELY CANNOT BE DOING ANY WORSE THAN WHAT WE ARE NOW.
end of the day a hooker is a hooker,a half back is a half back and a loose forward is a loose forward, etc etc.... continually playing players out of position and such is seriously affecting the balance of the team.

Just remind me, where did Murrell play during our promotion season?

| Quote: roversmad "Just remind me, where did Murrell play during our promotion season?'" That was 5 years ago he is now twice the size he was then as he has bulked up for loose/hooker.
He was never gifted with the largest amount of pace he now has even less.
Murrell is no longer a halfback he is a looseman.
Not being funny but it's like saying Lovegrove is still a centre.

In 2006 he was 5 years younger probably 2-3 stones lighter, he had played 6 all season and he was up against NL1 defenses.
Now he is bulked up for hooker, hasn't played consistantly in the halves never mind at 7 for years and is up against SL defenses.
Scott Murrell is no longer a HB even though yes he did use to be.

So why do we play him there then?????? Every one else can see it so why can't the man who is being paid to pick the team

| Quote: coyleahkr "Not there either, but sounds the same old problems round the marker defence, what do we do in training to put it right because we dont seem to get any better week in week out.'"
Marker defence wasnt too bad tonight.
4 tries came from the missed out flat pass to a big forward (Soliola,LMS x2 Graham) crashing over from cloase range.
Roby was on fire had much to do with that.
The Foster try was through Lomax running the power play on the 5th but Wellens try was soft letting Gardner break through on a kick return.

Perhaps Cas kids are better quality then Rovers have.
The saying if your good enough your old enough has to meet both criteria.

| Our defence been quite embarrassing for the majority of the season, all I have heard about is how bad we are missing Dobson and Newton. Well guess what, scoring points is not the real problem.

Sherriff was outstanding for the under 20s last night and i have no doubts that he is going to be our full back for many years to come. However, its not the ability side of the game that would make me wary about him or some of the other young kids for that matter. Its the physical aspect of the game. Sherriff had one high impact collision with Kyle Eastmond last night and came away looking as though his world had ended.
I would give him another couple of months in the 20s and then send him out on loan to a Championship club in readiness to take over from Briscoe next year.

You make a key point that is overlooked by many.
Sheriff im sure would be okay at this stage of his development in the odd game or so.
Its the physical demands that he would struggle with game on game.
