Not really. It's much easier to say 'truck' instead of Toyota jeep. (Sorry, Frankie. I'm not picking on you. The 'jeep' thing just happens to be one of my raw nerves, like hearing people say 'preserves' when they mean jam like everyone else says.) I used to have a big Land Rover. He went to his rusty grave last year. Much as I loved it, it was always called 'the car'. In the same way the Renault Megane sitting outside now (next to next-door's (Mitsubishi) truck) is also referred to as 'the car'. Because they are, er, cars.

I think you are missing my point, I'm not saying you go for the shortest word but you use a known trademark to stop you having to explain what it is and or/what it does.

In fact, using status brand names instead of the model or thing they actually are - as well as being snobbish - can actually cause more confusion (often that's the plan, to delude people into thinking their possession is grander than it is). ...a quite different beast. Toyota jeep caused more confusion and use of the Jeep trademark inferred something quite different. 'Toyota truck' would've conveyed his message much more succinctly.
