So refreshing to hear a player (Lunt) saying he will be seeing his contract out in full. Nothing but respect for the lad icon_smile.gif
If only other players had the same thought process eh ?

Quote: barham red "The thing with Welham was you kind of overlooked his defensive deficiencies as he could finish to a high standard, now that has disappeared whether due to confidence in his leg, pace lost due to injury or the loss of Dobson / Galea laying them on for him. He has now just become a defensive liability who can’t score, I struggle to see how if we gave Hallet a go how he could be any worse. The worst he could do is be as bad.
Salter I think has come on leaps and bounds but he needs to find a cutting edge that takes him from an occasional try scorer to a regular try scorer. This may be a consequence of our lack of creativity in the halfs but at least he seems to be able to read the game well.

I still think we need some size in the back line, Sio should add this because I look at our ¾ line and it looks very lightweight, Caro is probably the biggest unit in their but unfortunately he has the heart of a mouse.

Cockayne has done a very good job at FB but I still think he’s liable to the odd catastrophe of a bombed kick or a stupid penalty, this has been masked by the master of the headfart Eden being the other option. Here’s one for everyone, would you take McDonnell back?'"

Id take Mcdonnell back. Rated him very highly I never understood peoples comments about him. Technically a very good fullback, much better than what we have currently

The thing is he was offered a contract by Rovers which in his own words was worth peanuts. Whilst Im not for paying players silly money I also believe that a player should be paid his worth. If you are the starting #1 for a superleague club you should command a fair salary that reflects that.

I too was pi$$ed off with the whole Hull FC thing but players have got to earn a living.

All sentiments aside he would be an improvement on our current options and we desperately need some quality. Its never going to happen any way but personally I would be happy with him at fullback.

the thing that gets to me. is that i heard today that wigan offered a massive contract to travis. and he told kr he would sign a new deal if they bought him a new car and to help pay half his monthly mortgage so about 15k in total and kr have refused this.. so we would sooner lose one of our main play maker than offer him the deal he wants, before people jump at this it is what i heard that is all just saying

I said more or less the same thing in an earlier thread. A pal of mine who runs a small business and did some work for Travis Burns, told me a couple of weeks ago that Travis wanted a new car and some more money to stay at Rovers.
I don't now the amounts or anything or if its by way of paying towards his Mortgage, i do know though that he is already on a decent wedge.
I suppose it comes down to just what value a club puts on a player and whether it might upset the apple cart if the club start giving in to unreasonable demands from players .

Do people really believe that burns discusses his contract situation with people who come and do work on his house?

Well this article could just prove that Newcastle Herald reporters have no idea about Hull.

Years ago when we had Gavin miller and john dohare (spelling) and the rest rovers the old board paid not only their mortgage but their gas and electric bills and any other bills they had, I know that for sure because my wife was a cleaner in their offices and they just left the bills around when she told me I did not believe her so 6 am next day I went with her and so them for my self, ok we do not want to go back to that but their cars were of other company's
