Most of us on here will have come from fairly humble backgrounds - but sometimes to be successful you have to adapt. If he's made a fortune in banking, I'd imagine he had to, to be taken seriously by the Ruperts and the Jaspers (not that the City doesn't run on boorishness, but going in with your East Hull on full blast it would (sadly) be incongruous, I suspect). Maybe my stereotypes are outdated.
And tbf, if you've already been successful, you might think 'stuff it, don't need to do that anymore'. Or maybe he's overcompensated and gone a bit too 'man of the people'.
In the end it doesn't matter much, anyway - actions>words. |

So a loud mouthed ex player coming into town waving a wad of cash and making all kinds of outlandish promises has no similarities to the wilby situation? You do realise I mean tim wilby and not holly willoughby don't you?
You will note I have not made reference to any extradition proceedings in the similarities |

No he has not got under my skin tbh (if anything as an FC fan I think his behavior is great!), however my point is that he does not display the image I would expect from some-one fronting a professional sports clubs, I would seriously expect more professionalism, he makes your club appear uncouth and tacky imo, I hope he keeps it up  |

Interesting timing, choosing to re-open this thread now. You know something.
Right, it sounds like it's on to me. He's been playing darts (accused of cheating, I kid you not!) with Smith and Chadders, the latter having asked about the commentating job. Way too many hints that it's going ahead for it not to be completed now IMO. I reckon big reveal Friday, now the RFL are back after Christmas to ratify his suitability as owner, director or "influential person". Hope so, his jokes about his wife, dinosaurs, buns and bowel movements are excellent.
