MIKE SMITH- THE BEST CENTRE HULL HAS EVER MADE!: |
|
| Quote: Raggytash "Crazily good deal for you boys. Much better hooker than Lunt is right now. You're gonna be twice the team you are now with Parcell at hooker and Quinlan back. Add in the Smith factor and I reckon you've all got good reason to be excited about the rest of the season.'" if the deal comes off ,i fully agree, may be the difference in league status for next year, problem is at the moment no quota spots available,

Heartily agree. We could do with Lunt from early 2018 right now but I think his head and confidence might have gone after his back problem.
I also get the feeling we won't see him in a Rovers shirt again - although you never know.

| Considering Parcell looks like he'll be out for at least 3 games, I guess we might see Lee back alongside Atkin.

| Might play jabbed up if operation isn't urgent? But asking a lot of a player who isn't our own.

| Whatever combination of Addy, Atkin, Lawler and Lee, Tony Smith goes with will do a job i’m sure. It won’t be the job Parcell is capable of but the rest of the squad is it a better place fitness and confidence wise than for a while. There’s no need to despair (yet, imo).

Since Parcell arrived we’ve been given a demonstration of what we’ve been missing since Lunt was fit. A proper, quality hooker cannot be overvalued for what they bring to a team. Addy, for me can go now - he’s just not SL quality regardless of position. Lawler tries but doesn’t distribute fast enough or read the game like a quality 9; that’s not his fault though, he’s a back rower. There’s a reason that Lee hasn’t been 1st choice at any of the many clubs he’s played for. Atkin, for me, would be the best of a very poor bunch to fill the void; but his defence sucks!

| Supposedly we have signed jez litten next year, i'd be asking hull for him on loan now if its a season ender for Parcell and have him swapping with atkin. We look a much better team with somebody quick out of dummy half.
It will help any person we put in there though that we now have a forward pack who can win a collision, early season struggles at hooker coincided with having 1 prop. Any hooker with no quick PTB would struggle to make an impact.
For his faults Tommy Lee isn't a bad starting hooker - especialy when a game is tight. He can defend and add a bit of kicking game, but he wouldn't do major minutes for me let atkin have 25 mins either side of the half

| I tend to agree with most of these comments. But here's a thought....
Hall to FB, bring Shaw back and Quinlan to hooker?
Personally, we've just looked a different team since Quinlan came back so Lee and Atkin, whilst not ideal, might be OK.

| Depending on how they look in training, I’d want us to keep it simple and start with Lee (better hooker) or Addy (more versatile returning from the bench). Then let Atkin take over at 9 for most or all of the rest of the match, when he comes on.

| If the Parcell story is true then you've suffered a massive blow. Its a cruel irony that he was injured playing against his parent team. I still think you'll be safe.

| Why not approach Hull FC about a loan deal for Litten.
Only wasting his time at Doncaster and the odd reserve game

| How many loan players can you have in a season, think it's up to 5 so far this season isn't it?
COHA hasn't really helped out either Hull team, just hope it doesn't take too long to repair the damage

I think it might be 5 at any one time.
I’m not massively optimistic about a flood of talent emerging from COHA, but it is early to judge its productivity/legacy. And tbf it wasn’t like the four years before that were massively productive for Rovers own system. Bardle, Rooks and Harrison did okay for forwards their age in difficult circumstances, and Lewis is getting good reviews in Championship 1. The next step is often the most difficult.
I saw Hull might be looking to spread the net wider in their new youth and development system. Sounds like a good idea to me, in principle at least.
