He played well in a very poor team. Going to Salford was clearly a mistake. But he's also done well this season. Not just on his day, but over the course of the season he's easily the best second rower in Super League. He runs incredibly hard, is difficult to put down, has a step and offloads more than anyone in the league.
Against that he misses 3 to 6 games a season through suspension. He gives penalties away more than most (or so it seems - I'd be glad to be proved wrong on this though).
So you have to decide - Is he worth it?
If I was Hull KR I'd snap him up. Surely as fans you want to see great players. And he is a great player.'"
If he's that good and worth putting up with his misdemeanours then why won;t wigan have him back? I fully agree with you though, hull kr should sign him

Because Shaun Wane doesn't want him. Simple as. It's SWs way or the highway.

Did you get rid of all the voices in your head? Do you now miss them and the things that they said?: |

Try reading the second sentence. I presume you are able?

Where do you stand on recreational drugs? Because that's what it was - not performance enhancing. He copped a two year ban for recreational drug use which was harsh. Terry Newton got two years for using HGH. It hardly equates does it?
As for him being a has been, did you watch Salford much last season? Their fans seemed happy enough with his form until his latest (rather comical) misdemeanour. Even if he is a 'has been' he could improve most teams in Super League.
Anyway it looks like he's off to Wire - so he won't be bringing down the tone in East Hull!

| Doing recreational drugs makes him an idiot, however copping lengthy bans for deliberate contact with match officials for 2 years in a row makes him unemployable if I were recruiting for Rovers. The bloke is an utter bumclart. I wouldn't pi$$ on him if he was on fire.

We have been burned repeatedly and recently. I'm not going to make a moral issue out of his drug ban, but he showed very bad judgement. He messed Wigan around, he messed Parramatta around and now, after getting chucked out of the England WC squad, he's messed Salford around. Extreme cases apart, everybody deserves a second chance, but there's a limit and I'm not keen to see Rovers added to the list of clubs Hocked about. The ref shoving, is the clincher. Without that, I'd maybe think a loan deal, with no fee and a return option, mightn't be so bad. But as it is, there's no point fretting over discipline if you're going to sign somebody notorious for lacking it.

Your post seems fair enough to me. I'm no apologist for Hock. I just think people over react with him. This is rugby league not university challenge after all. It's a game played by people who enjoy hitting people and who enjoy getting hit!
Hock is a bloody good player. If he comes I think you would love him warts and all.
My final words on the subject. I've outstayed my welcome.

You're more than welcome.
Hock has talent, and he's capable of doing stuff that'd rouse a crowd that have little enough to cheer of late. He just stuffs up way too often - unfortunately.

30596_1286642206.jpg If there is no struggle, there is no progress. Those who profess to favor freedom, and yet depreciate agitation, are men who want crops without plowing up the ground. They want rain without thunder and lightning. They want the ocean without the awful roar of its many waters. This struggle may be a moral one; or it may be a physical one; or it may be both moral and physical; but it must be a struggle.
