Interesting, please do tell, or at least give us a clue.

This is genuinely not a dig, but what you need more to come of is fans. The whole game of RL does IMO

There are things that would put me off investing or doing business in Russia, but if you mean the Ukraine situation, I don't think that'll likely have long-term negative consequences for Russia. Personally and fwiw.
Excellent news that the club have secured additional finance. Reading between the lines and interpreting the hell out of the sp information released, it sounds like a bit more security rather something transformative. Very, very welcome nonetheless, even if that is the case though.

Now with that said I think Putin is a bully who thinks it's still 1980 and that Russia is the strongest country in the world. He will get slapped down shortly either from inside or out IMHO.

It's just a good job we didn't go invading countries. We can hold the moral high ground.

My money is on Russia. Their backyard, their rules. If the world let Russia dictate the Syrian crisis, there's no way they'll step up for Crimea/Ukraine.

This, basically.
Putin is an , but Ukraine is a bit of a weird portmanteau of a country, with very, very little history as a nation state prior to the collapse of the USSR. He's trying to take advantage, is all.
Appetite for War, especially against dudes with significant military capabilities, is going to be limited. Considerations of 'international law' are only good for the lolz. Sanctions cuts 2 ways - a third of Europe's oil and gas comes from Russia. If fuel bills started to rise too much, I suspect people here and our media might suddenly start to sympathise much more with the ethnic Russians of Eastern Ukraine, and the idea of redrawing of borders along more 'rational lines'.
Russians themselves might well get fed up with Putin, and that would be no bad thing IMO. It'll be for other reasons though, and the gas and oil will still be there.

IMHO He is a dinosaur and will eventually be shown the door Whether he likes it or not.

My first though on hearing the word sanctions was 'Where do we get most of our oil and gas from again'.

Got to have grudging admiration for his political abilities, to have survived this long in that snake-pit. But you're right he can't go on forever.
I think a lot of the issues in Ukraine are economic rather than ethnic. The economic elements apply to Russia too - perhaps even more so. The oil and gas cash, takes the edge off a bit, but the corruption and wealth disparities are taking a toll on national morale there, I'm sure.
These post-imperial societies, with exaggerated conceptions of their residual potency and huge and growing gaps between their rich and poor - what are they like, eh?

Putin's just another Russian president, they'll be another one just like him in waiting, if that's what they want for the next 10 years. For Putin it's a perfect time to adopt such a pro Russian nationalistic policy. Following the successful Winter Olympics both on and off the slopes, Russian patriotism will be sky high. No better time to spin some pro Russian propaganda about the west interfering and militia coup in Ukraine. We must protect fellow Russians/speakers. Mobilise the troops. Parliament agree. Pro demonstrations follow and anti establishments like 'Pussy Riot' are quashed/silenced. For now, locals probably aren't paying attention to their domestic financial meltdown resulting from their recent foreign affair policies. Instead national pride with an overtone of propaganda is probably blinding them as normal. Hail Vladamir

I mean look at rlThis.rl The guy is a nutter (I imagine former KGB agents are).
Russia seemed to be moving away from being insular until Putin got in 1999- present day(If we ignore the puppet in the middle of his 2 times in office.) now it's back to undercover ,smoke and mirrors and aggressive foreign policy again I can't imagine the two are not connected.
