Once again were does this "we've got nothing to lose now" come from?

Weve got a good shot at playoff rugby which will inject much needed cash into the club. IMO we have got loads to lose!

Do you know how much a brief (away from home) appearance in the play offs brings to the club? I would suggest it will cost the club more to fund a second trip to Perpignan than they would get from being in the top 8 for 1 game.

The players have everything to lose by not making the play-offs.

No top 8 = no prize money = no end of season bonuses.

Didn't SL used to collect all the gate receipts from the play-offs then split the total between the qualifying sides?

Do they still do this?

No top 8

what i mean is, were down to the bare bones in some positions, ie F/B and wing so have to give Sheriff and Latus a go, we have to play them, so therefore we have nothing to lose,

Not big enough, simple as - its ok saying they need experience at top level but top level rugby when your not ready for it can be just as bad.

He should of been loaned out to york for the 2011 season

After Neil Hudgell's comments about wanting to see the youngsters get more game time it makes me wonder who is picking the team now after this weeks developments. Just hope to God Matt Cook gets a chance now if Jordan Cox can.

And I suppose you've seen St Helens absolute giant of a full back for next season?

Remember that those who come off the chat thread for a breather are sometimes naive as to the goings on at the club and team selection. icon_wink.gif

Sam Tomkins is pretty small and although he gets thrown around a bit he can handle the physical side of the game and therefore is able to show his undoubted ability.

In the case of Louis Sheriff I have to agree that he does look too small and you wonder if he can handle the physical side as well as Tomkins. I don't think we really know yet but I do believe he has not looked ready for regular first team rugby at Super League level. That could be because he will never be ready or it could be that he needs a bit more time we will have to wait and see.

Either way I think it will be a huge gamble if we go into next season with him as our first choice full back.

Just looked at Tomkins stats, nearly 12 stone & 5 foot 10 inch that is not that small, he is just not a front rower. Anyway if you have a dominant pack Sherriff would run riot & that is were Rovers need to improve on. old adage forwards win the game backs decide the margin of the win.

Mrs B's favourite player has just breathed life into the titanic battle for 8th. Whoop-de---do, talk about celebrating mediocrity!
