He's been largely disappointing anyway and I'm glad the club aren't prepared to pay stupid money for an average player. IF the plan is to play Hall at FB next season, then get him playing there as of this friday (Blake Green dependant!) and bin Shannon off. We're supposed to be building for the future are we not??!!'"

Again IMO the wrong attitude. We signed him for the season. All the season. It's not a matter of wanting to play for hull
Kr. He signed up to play for Hull KR for the 2012 season. No more, no less. He didn't sign for half a season. He didn't sign to play "until
FC want him for the season after" he's still our player for at least the remainder of this year and he's the best fullback we have.

| He is an aging journyman who has never had a decent contract, and now finds himself in the position where he can get one.
He does owe Sandercock a bit of loyalty because his career was finished without the lifeline he got from Sanders, but his main focus will be on making a few dollars out of footy before he hangs up the boots.
Sanders would have had a fair idea that he would improve a lot if he fnally got regular first team games for the first time in his career, so it has worked out for both of them.

Whatever.
We tried him as a regular full back in SL - he's not good enough.

That's fair enough, and whilst I agree with the principle of what you're saying, my opinion is that we need to look further ahead. Therefore IF, and only IF, the plan is to play Hall at FB next season then we should start playing him there now rather than him playing there for the first time next season. If the plan isn't to play Hall at FB, then of course Shannon should stay there.
I don't have any real issues with him signing for FC, as i said, good luck to him and well done for earning a better contract.

| No way should we drop or boo him. He's a professional, fulfilling his contract professionally. Next year we'll have a new fb to support, for now it remains SM.
As for bringing Cockayne back - just 'no' on so many levels. I don't get the obsession with him at all, even setting aside his regular lengthy club suspensions. Why not Jon Goddard? Liked Jon Goddard, me.

Are you saying he's not aging? L'Oreal should get him doing adverts.

A 25 year old reserve grader in Sydney can claim the old age pension.

30596_1286642206.jpg If there is no struggle, there is no progress. Those who profess to favor freedom, and yet depreciate agitation, are men who want crops without plowing up the ground. They want rain without thunder and lightning. They want the ocean without the awful roar of its many waters. This struggle may be a moral one; or it may be a physical one; or it may be both moral and physical; but it must be a struggle.

| I have now reverted to my first impressions of him and have decided he is rubbish.
All the positive comments I have made over the last few weeks were lies.
One thing you do not do is sign for Hull if we want to keep you.
He's dead to me.

I know fans are fickle and we get annoyed/frustrated when things like this occur but, Mcdonnell has definitely not been largely disappointing by any stretch of the imagination. Also there is still a long way to go this season so what exactly would be achieved by "binning off" McDonnell. He's still a rovers player at the minute and should be supported as such.
