| 3rd time in 4 games we've suffered a 2nd half meltdown. I like Chessie but that's not an impressive CV.

Yep first half was close and it was tough to call at half time.
Second half was a complete meltdown from Rovers, with a lack of leadership on the pitch an lots of mistakes.

You'll go well on here. Can you also let bridhkr know it's 'would have' and not 'would of'.

| Season over. A fair bit of dead wood to clear out now. And unfortunately Chester is part of it. Just hope to god when Smith went to Aussie, he was looking at coach's aswell as players.

| Hope the bosses have noticed what a difference to performances James Lowes has made at Bradford. Same players as the 'very likeable' Francis cummins but a totally different mindset.
Not saying Chester should go, but some attitudes need 'adjusting' at Craven Park.

Sorry about your Grandma I'm sure she will always live on in your memory quite rightly.
I reckon Chessie got the team up for it today the first half was a very tough closely contested physical game of rugby between 2 very determined teams. Nothing in it really until as half time approached at 4-4 Greg Eden with half the Widnes team to beat stepped, swerved and fended past all of them in brilliant fashion...until with nothing but an open field in front of him then amazingly dropped the ball. Inevitably Widnes then score on the next set. 10-4 half time.
As we have seen a number of times this year Rovers then fall apart
Second half was a complete shambles and as we have seen many times Rovers then start knocking on at the play the ball, throw the ball straight into touch etc.. Even your Grandma would have been at a loss I reckon.
I wouldn't try to teach your Grandma to suck eggs but after 23 games and only 4 left maybe the real problem is we actually are not very good really.
Possibly we are not too far apart on this issue really, it would be surprising almost a miracle in fact if the very best coach available in the whole world has actually been on our coaching staff for 5 years all along.
Chris Chester is a great bloke he was a good player too and he knows the game of rugby league. But after a shocker like today the players must be mightily relieved they are facing him when they report back for training and not a Shaun Wane or a Paul Anderson. He may have 'put a smile back on faces' in training but I suspect that would be well low down on the list priorities of Wane or Anderson

| Chester has been at the club longer then most of our players. He's not a "new" coach really is he? He must have bought into a lot of the coaching ideals and practices that Sandercock employed therefore really how much has changed?
I think a completely new coaching staff is required. This year rovers have been poor on and off the field. Too many players getting involved in stupid off field incidents which to me shows that they don't respect the club, the coach and fans enough to behave themselves. A new coach and a tougher regime for me.

I find it amazing that none of the 7,000 talk about the massive elephant in the room...
Chester has now found out who really runs the team, and it is not the head coach...
Whilst people with no real RL knowledge are running Rovers, picking the team and spending the salary cap , there is only one outcome...mediocre, low level RL with another 40 years of winning naff all..
We had our chance 2007/8/9 onwards but truly blew it on personal rubbish...the club should have come first but it didn't, the pigs at the trough wanted their truffles...
By all means put the dough in (and ensure the pigs are fed), but leave the rugby to people who actually know what they are on about...
Sadly i think it is too late and eternal mediocrity awaits...sadly, again, no more than is deserved...

And your evidence for this is what exactly?
A couple of seasons ago I thought that Neil's leadership may have been getting stale (and by his own admission to a certain degree). However, the new investors may be helping to turn that around (they haven't been involved long enough yet though). I'm pretty certain that if a multi-millionaire came along to buy his stake out and guaranteed to have the club's best interest at heart and to turn the team into a fighting force in SL, then Neil would step aside. However, until that day comes, I am always grateful for where Neil and the board has taken us in the last ten years and that they continue to try to push the club forward as best they can.
