Quote SirStan="SirStan"We will have to agree to disagree on SMc then. After his recent performances Rovers should play him, he's performing well and there is no obvious candidate to replace him on the books (maybe give Sheriff the odd game against some of the lesser lights in SL?). I thought it disgusting the way sections of the crowd treated him today. W[uhy shouldn't he reject the club if they are offering him a poor deal?[/u Based on the season's performance, he deserves an improved contract. We both have no idea what he's on and what he has turned down.[u If he can get better elsewhere, good luck to the kid. It's a short career[/u.'"
I totally agree.
Apparently, Sandy asked the Board if they could improve the offer, they told him Shannon had made it clear when the first offer was made he would be leaving.
I've spoken to Shannon on a number of occassions and he doesn't come across as being happy and settled at Rovers. He might have looked and sounded chirpy in the bar after yesterdays match, but when I asked him jokingly if he would change his mind, he gave me an emphatic NO WAY!
I have to say his whole demeanour has changed; he reminds me of someone who knows more than he is telling. Thats his prerogative. Maybe, irons in the fire and all that, but one would expect a more light hearted attitude after putting in his best display for Rovers.
I wouldn't say good riddance, but yesterdays 'encounter' didn't give cause for empathy re the 'low key' boo'ing.
