Quote: smartmart "im well aware of were we came from i was one of the 1000 or so that turned up to see a part time team wade its way through year after year trying to survive.

just asked your self the question if this stand is built do u think the club will achieve the break even figure been touted about???
if we moved to the kc what kind of crowds do u think we could achieve???.'"

With regards to the question, will the club achieve break even point if the stand is built?, more to the point imo is, the fact that if we dont build the stand then we most certainly wont get the break even point.
You have to remember that as a business the club has to look at as many streams of income as it possibly can, the building of the North stand would go some way to generating those extra streams through corparate facilities etc, as well as hopefuly, from more fans who would also benifit from the better facilities on offer.
If you take Hull fc for example although there are many other similar examples in sport, their crowds grew almost every season after they re located to the much better KC staduim with its superior facilities compared to the old Boulevard.
I used to work for a large company in West Hull at that time where most of the employees were Hull Fc fans, who claimed when asked the question, did they want to leave Boulevard and move to the KC?, a large number of would answer, that they would never leave there and that a move to the KC was a bad idea, ask any of them that same question now and i know that in 99% of cases it would be a completely different answer.

Regarding your other question about numbers of supporters following the club to the KC.
Well i would say it all depends on the level of fans expectations of the club, fans would need to ask themselves the following. >>>Do they want to see a successful club playing in a very good stadium with the best players on view week in, week out and challenging for honours?, or would they be satisfied just to see a mediocre club with mediocre players in a poor ground playing the likes of Batley, Sheffield etc every week, with a small number of fans watching from the stands like the during the ninetees?, if they chose the second option then im afraid they would have to forget about ever seeing the club playing in super league again imo.

Anyway, as i've said previously, i dont think we will need to make a descision to move to the KC or anywher else, as i believe the issues surrounding the building of the new North stand will be resolved sooner rather than later.
At the end of the day i believe it is also in the best interests of the City council to have such a community based facility in the East of the City.

The club is at a crossroads. The preffered path is clear - the North stand is built (and the East extended also, hopefully) and we proceed, forever leaving thoughts of the KC behind, which I suspect would be a relief all round.

That doesn't guarantee success of course, but it gives us a chance. But staying as we are pretty much guarantees failure - financial, sporting or both.

Will it work? - one can only speculate, but given how limited capacity and facilities are now and we're still about 85% of the way there, maybe. The derby would sell out, which pushes the average you need at the rest of the games down slightly. Even if we don't quite make it and have to operate below the cap, I think it's realistic to hope that this would mean we didn't have to cut anywhere nearly so much as we would otherwise.

If it doesn't happen, then the choices are less palatable. The KC would be a long-shot and a massive gamble. Staying put, even if we could struggle by at the lower end of the table, our franchise would be permanently in jeopardy.

On the face or it - the KC is a great move. Solves all our ground problems in one hit. However in reality it obviously wouldn't work. It would send shockwaves through our fanbase, so much in fact - that some fans would put their principles ahead of the club's survival. The move to the KC, even short term, may do more harm than good. I'd hope the club have used this opportunity to gage people's reaction to the possible move and ruled it out. [size(Just to put it out there - a move the KC either short/long term doesn't actually bother me)[/size

I agree without the North Stand project going ahead, I don't think we have much hope of long term success. If Cas/Wakefield sort their ground problems out - we're next on the 'ground chopping board'.
Time to convince Tesco that an east Hull superstore is required. icon_wink.gif

I'm sure your landlords would love that prospect. It does beg the question of where you'll play though

Pretty obvious really - next to where Tesco's build their super'duper'store.
Seeing as that Everton/Tesco deal fell through, and they're apparently in the market to develop more stores around the country - it's an opportunity for them to enter into another joint venture. (ala Warrington/Coventry). Indeed, didn't Allam's KC masterplan include another Tesco's too? The vision is there icon_smile.gif

If there is no struggle, there is no progress. Those who profess to favor freedom, and yet depreciate agitation, are men who want crops without plowing up the ground. They want rain without thunder and lightning. They want the ocean without the awful roar of its many waters. This struggle may be a moral one; or it may be a physical one; or it may be both moral and physical; but it must be a struggle. Frederick Douglas:d7dc4b20b2c2dd7b76ac6eac29d5604e_30596.jpg

I imagine that you're pretty worry free, what with that requiring a thought process.
