Shame on those narrow-minded cretins who decided to boo him even though he played in a Rovers shirt and put his body on the line.'"
I agree totally out of order, at least he is seeing out his contract unlike McKinnon

Unfortunately not, although I did stay while the end by which time any Cas fans were west of Selby.

| My MoTM was Dobbo by a country mile and I thought Dave Hodgson showed us what a great finisher he is. As for Shannon, yeah he shone today but he isn't happy at Rovers, he's made that plain by rejecting the club so should have expected a backlash.
We are a very insular club, we wear these rejections on our sleeve. However, Shannon showed today he was still part of the cause so fair play to him, he put in his best performance in a Rovers. I have to say though, whilst I didn't boo him (its against the grain to boo any Rovers player or performance) I am of the opinion he should be 'secondary' in Sandy's selection for the rest of the season. In the bigger picture that is my opinion and I stand by it.

einstien said insanity is when a person does the same thing over and over again but expects a different result: |

I havnt heard anywhere that McDonnell is unhappy at Rovers. He took a 1 year contract this season despite being offered a 2 year deal because he wanted put himself in the shop window to earn a bigger deal. He has turned down the offer that Rovers have put to him on financial grounds. Hudgell said so himself in the programme.
If he continues to play like he did today then he will probably get the offer that he wants. Good luck to him.

| McDonnell has never made a decent paycheck out of League.
He has been on minimum wages at every club he has played at, and no one can blame him for looking for one decent contract before he is too old.
I don't think he is worth decent money, but he is perfectly within his rights to look for it.

We will have to agree to disagree on SMc then. After his recent performances Rovers should play him, he's performing well and there is no obvious candidate to replace him on the books (maybe give Sheriff the odd game against some of the lesser lights in SL?). I thought it disgusting the way sections of the crowd treated him today. Why shouldn't he reject the club if they are offering him a poor deal? Based on the season's performance, he deserves an improved contract. We both have no idea what he's on and what he has turned down. If he can get better elsewhere, good luck to the kid. It's a short career.

You might not think he's worth decent money, but that is perhaps a reflection of the relative quality available over here. He looked a very accomplished performer yesterday, and has been improving steadily throughout the season.

| It didn't surprise me when fans booed him yesterday only because that's what I have come to expect from some of our so called fans. Another example of it was when in a close game against Wakey, Cockayne scores and some of our own fans start singing his name etc doesn't quite make sense to me. When Andy Raleigh scored a try in the same game no one seem to chant his name yet he also played for the club.
I hope McDonell changes his mind about his contract and is still here next season.

| I don't think he will change his mind but I can't see why he wouldn't be allowed to as we haven't signed anyone yet to fill that position. Was there ever an official line saying he is not taking it up or was it just on hdm? I know it was on different news websites but do we know 100% he is not taking up the extra year option?

| I was speaking to Mcdonnell last night, a few of the players were out celebrating. I asked why he rejected the offer and if he was off to Catalan, he said it was a very poor deal and he doesnt know where he will be next season but it wont be catalan because Brent Webb is going. He said he'd love to stay at the club but couldnt accept such a poor deal, I kindly offered to get some collection buckets going round to top up is wages haha.
I for one hope the club offer him a better deal because I really rate him as a player and I think we will see a lot more good performances from him this year especially when the team is playing well!
