| I don't know who this new coach will be but hopefully he's bringing some defence and organisation with him because last night's game showed we don't have either. Whoever our next coach is has got a massive job on there hands.

| We need to sign a captain, with no leader on the pitch we'll fail every year. Campese has to go, risk is far too great to go around again carrying a player who will be lucky to get through a match a season

| In previous posts I have mentioned two names for coach but I'm not doing so this time as I think it's more important to talk about what type of coach we have. Do we need a tactician, a disciplinarian or somebody to inspire the players. Looking at how poorly structured we are and how we give away cheap penalties (even when we have possession) I would go for a disciplinarian. As for strengthening the squad, lets forget it as the club cannot afford top quality players, that is why we are signing youngsters. So what TYPE of coach do you lot think Rovers need?

| rovers need a coach who will come in and put some structures in place, improve your team and develop the younger players. You need someone who can quietly go about his business without looking for excuses and who can inspire the players to achieve the best they possibly can.
Unfortunately, you're getting steve macnamara though

A charismatic optimist with a hidden but deep cynical streak. Able and willing to challenge JP, in a constructive way.
On the penalties, I think that is a failure to cope with better teams, more than a issue with temperament. With a few exceptions.

| We must give away more stupid penalties for interfering at the play of the ball than any other team and have done so for years. We need a coach that will stop the players putting their hand on the ball as they stand up, which most of them are guilty of (not Mulhern though, cos when he stands his arms are stretched out sideways cos he has been coached well).

30596_1286642206.jpg If there is no struggle, there is no progress. Those who profess to favor freedom, and yet depreciate agitation, are men who want crops without plowing up the ground. They want rain without thunder and lightning. They want the ocean without the awful roar of its many waters. This struggle may be a moral one; or it may be a physical one; or it may be both moral and physical; but it must be a struggle.

| Unfortunately, Mulhern is absolutely rubbish at everything else, like defending and attacking.

Do you think JP would appoint someone who would ever question him?

Looking at how JP plys his management skills on Twitter, I'd doubt any coach will want challenge him. Seems he doesn't take criticism very well.

Dunno.
He should do. Ideas and plans are improved and refined when they're challenged, intelligently and constructively.
There's no value in antagonism between DoR and coach, but honesty and accountability are key. Got a bit corporate now, haven't I?
The fact we're going for an experienced coach is a positive sign. However, if it is McNamara his force of personality scale score of 1.2, is a concern. No offence Steve, btw, I'm only a 0.7 myself.
