Except when we play Widnes, they've beaten us easily twice this year.
yes, entirely different pressures this year. Though one point I've not seen made much, is we were garbage for large parts of last season. Was only when we beat Salford that there started to be some belief we could do anything. I'd say your first game against Super League opposition is vital.

Hope the team have some fire in their bellies when the 8,s start and give 80 minute performances. The crowd can play their part and make it hell for the opposition, just hope the team do as well and give no quarter to the enemy.
COYR!!'"
The problem been, is unless the team performance starts to improve quickly, the mood among the fans is low and they will turn against the team instead of supporting them.
People will have someone p155 up their back and be told it's raining once to often.
We pay to be entertained and expect 100% commitment from the players, if they don't want to play, tell TS and jog on. There's no room now for passengers and sulks.

Oh yes dear chap, many times, the wage bill for that entire team was less than some individual players (and coaches) are getting now...
And that team had no pretensions , had little top line experience aside from Whetu and Fletch and Gary wasn't an ex Aussie test coach...yet there was an enjoyment in watching kids doing their best for not a lot...as opposed to not doing their best for quite a lot...

Rose tinted glasses ask anyone what they'd prefer winning the league at a canter as boring as it was or getting beat 1-0 at home to barrow

Mr Sheens, who co-incidentally oversaw the Australian team lose 2 four nations tournaments and is in possession of a 50% win record over his career despite having had every advantage possible, chooses to play as many props as anyone can fit into 17 players, 6 today in a loss to the admittedly world class Halifax championship side and to play safety first rugby even against teams made up entirely of players who only train every other Monday...
It has been like watching paint dry the entire season...for all his faults Justin Morgan would have had his team winning with panache by 80...
Either RL or Rovers are/is on a perennial down-slope never to exit or Sheens (and Hudgell/Crossland...the Larvin excitable/psychometric testing gurus,/Kris Keating signing/Scott Murrell disposing genius titbrains ) are wizards...discuss...'"

Agreed.
The last two years we threw the ball about all over the place and relied on "high percentage plays" to win games. Which is inherently inconsistent and look where it got us. We play a simpler style with Sheens that is more consistent in my opinion and when we get a bit of roll on we have played with speed and skill. Hopefully more to come in the middle 8's. If that is boring, so be it.

Winning the 2nd division against mostly part timers with an uneven advantage in terms of finance and salary cap spend is hardly an achievement that today's supporters will be telling their grandchildren...

30596_1286642206.jpg If there is no struggle, there is no progress. Those who profess to favor freedom, and yet depreciate agitation, are men who want crops without plowing up the ground. They want rain without thunder and lightning. They want the ocean without the awful roar of its many waters. This struggle may be a moral one; or it may be a physical one; or it may be both moral and physical; but it must be a struggle.

I think you've got a point, however, if Rover's are winning, I don't really care how.
This season HAS been dull, but I'd argue that's been more about the opposition's game plan most of the time.
Look on Bradford's board about Swinton yet again turning up with a completely negative attitude.
Against London we had a thirty minute spell where we got a great roll on and they just couldn't contain us, we would have scored serious points against any side we'll play in the Rubbish Eight's.
We play a percentage game, yesterday we were terrible. Sheens' game plan needs us up in the eighties for completion rate, if we can achieve that, we'll give Leigh and Widnes a game.
We certainly will not beat either of those teams with flair and pizzazz.

| Castleford aside no team has played consistently exciting rugby for fair few season. The game was always based on the pack laying the platform and after dominating the middle the half's and backs cut loose.Factor in better training/stamina and interchanges plus some ref's keeping a skinny 10 and players getting better at delaying play the ball etc the game has become predictable and most are playing to same system.Sheens has yet to prove we can grind it out better than the teams we hope to displace but he's not going to change now.Have we got enough? I don't know? Been waiting for the 8's all season, now there here I'm very nervous, I think we all are

If Rugby League Rocks, then Hull KR is its Soul.: |
|
| Yesterday we didn't care. The worst performance of a boring season to date by a country mile. Did we even reach a 30% set completion rate even? Halifax and the Drighlington Dynamo in particular bossed the game from the start.
There's got to be a reason. I reckon the players minds were already focusing on this week's break and time off. Halifax had the incentive and desire.
On their return to training next weekend, playtime will get serious. Not convinced the players have the mental strength and composure to turn it on when things don't go to plan, the size in the middle to win the collisions against bigger packs or the creativity to unlock defensive intensity. For me, it's the MPG again at best. Time will tell and happy to be proved wrong.
