Possibly so, without having the benefit of clear hindsight, perhaps you could tell me at what point did you decide we should terminate an employees contract? If it was before we signed him, then subject to evidence of this I will of course, apologise profusely and recommend you for the current vacancy of UK Prime Minister.

After said contract was signed then TC has an obligation to honour it, as do Rovers.

If Rugby League Rocks, then Hull KR is its Soul.:

Quote: deslawson "He went straight from his sacking at bradford to the england job,so the rfl must have been impressed by his performance at bradford, which explains why we failed miserably in the 2013 world cup.The only 2 teams of any consequence new zealand both beat us and we arguably had the strongest squad we have ever had, bearing in mind the 2013 man of steel wasn't considered by mcnamara because he dosn't like him.Sound reasoning wouldn't you say ?'"

No Des. Get real.

We didn't fail miserably at the 2013 World Cup.

I was at the Wembley semi final, when we outplayed NZ for most of the game. One of the best international RL games I have seen in almost 50 years as an avid RL fan tbh.

Then some recently retired icon of the game overshot the player in possession on the Kiwis final play with 21 secs to go, got easily sidestepped by the same ( a world class half back) and let him in for a try we shouldn't have conceded in all honesty. World Cup over. Not McNamara's fault in any way. I could have throttled Sir Kev after that, but still bought a signed copy of his autobiography. That's what experienced realism is all about. You forgive and move on as anyone can make mistakes. You learn by them.

Similarly I expect McNamara has learnt a lot in Oz as a coach since his Bradford days and moved his coaching competency on several levels.

Des, it seems we will have to agree to disagree on the benefits or not of possibly installing McNamara as our next head coach. I, for one, would think that where we are as a club, to appoint someone who is respected within the game and has years of experience coaching elite players in both hemispheres and is relatively young and hungry would be a positive move. Like I said, bearing in mind where we are as a club and who we could realistally recruit. You seem happy to make a nostalgic appointment based on how well they played for us despite having zero coaching qualifications or experience (Newton / Galea) or Webster who, while improving the mess left by Chester, has a worse super league coaching record, no international experience and never coached in the world's premier club competition. Ok then....................

But like I said. We'll just have to agree to disagree.

Furner's record is abysmal it's like a carbon copy of the sandercock era. His only qualification seems to be an Aussie accent.

Des seems to object to McNamara based on his record in his 1st coaching job, citing Bradford supporters as his primary witness.

He then goes on to want Webbo despite his abject failure in his 1st coaching job. I would like to direct him towards Wakefields forum for their opinion of Websters spell in charge.

Maybe it goes deeper, Webster is a former Rovers playing legend ( who I happen to have huge respect for) whereas McNamara plied his trade on the wrong side of the river.

That seems fair, thats what this forum is about, opinions,as it turned out I was right about campese and will be highly delighted if iam wrong about mcnamara but i fear he is a dud.As for newton and galea assuming they had their coaching badges, both loved their time at the club and its a difficult question who would you want as coach its hard to know who is available and who would want it,but powell would be my value for money choice.Morgan had no experience as head coach but did a damn good job.

Hardly fits the bill as a proven head coach though.

Between macnamara and mcdermott I'd appoint mcdermott as rovers coach every day of the week but then I am a Hull supporter icon_lol.gif icon_lol.gif

When we signed campese we knew he was a huge risk, always injury prone at canberra where he was a legend on and off the pitch, played only 139 matches in 11 seasons, and we gave him a 1year contract for that reason. Our major error was giving him a 2 year extension,I know he was playing well, but didnt you fear that with his injury record one more injury could spell the end of a glittering career.Sixteen years of hammer in the nrl takes its toll on the body and its shown in his 2 seasons with us,he was selected for italy in the 2013 world cup,but withdrew on medical advice because of his knees. The clues were there but we didn't heed them,as i said our blunder was giving him a 2 year extension.

Mentioned in this article that Brenno is a chance.

He is a very hard man on discipline. He is a former police prosecutor and doesn't stand for any poor behaviour, on or off the field.

He was a decent lower grades coach at the Knights till Wayne Bennett sacked him to put in his own guy as under 20s coach, and Brennan got the job as under 20s coach at Penrith and smashed it in under 20 and reserve grade for the next 3 years (while living in Newcastle and making a 200klm round trip several times a week to coach).
The best thing about him is that he has coached some amazing young players at Penrith - the best lower grade squads in the game for the last few years - and a lot of them would be very keen to play for him again. Penrith are shedding heaps of talented young players, and Brennan has them all on speed dial.

Going along with Roopy's excellent in depth analysis and knowledge, I think Rick Stone or Garth Brennan would have been perfect fits for us. One would have got the best out of our average squad the other would have developed and got the best out of the youngsters Peacock is bringing into the club. Doubt we would have stood a chance signing them after the way we treat their mate.

However if we get McNamara I won't be too disappointed and I'm willing to give him a chance. Not bothered that he played for those on the wrong side of the river, as I am old enough to remember what some players like Arthur Bunting achieved when they crossed to coach the other side.

einstien said insanity is when a person does the same thing over and over again but expects a different result:
