| Quote: His Bobness "Not at all we now have a degree of control over the situation.
I don't know if we will win our remaining 2 games I certainly don't want to take that for granted. If we don't then we're 8th and will definitely not now play Catalans. We will be away to the winners of the Hull v Saints game who are now guaranteed 5th. But should we win our remaining 2 fixtures.................read on.
As I say the winner of Hull v Saints is now guaranteed 5th therefore the highest we can finish is 6th but the loser of Hull v saints will finish below us meaning we will be 7th at worst (repeat assuming we have won our last 2 fixtures).
So it would all boil down to the Catalans v Warrington game. Warrington win and great stuff we are 6th and a home play off against the losers of Hull v Saints. Catalan win and they are 6th we are 7th and we have the nightmare trip to France.
Except....to repeat, if we have lost to Widnes we cannot now face a trip to Catalans because that guarantees 8th and a trip to the winners of Hull v Saints. If we have beaten Widnes everything will have unfolded before we kick off against London. So we will know if a win will get us 6th and if so full steam ahead. Alternatively we will know if a win will give us the nightmare trip to Perpignan.
Should it come to that then surely with the precedent now set we should follow the example of Wigan and select our U19 team against London.'"
firstly to make it interesting you have to beat widnes
then the last weekend can be summed up like this
1. saints and hull can in theory finish anywhere from 5th to 8th
2. yourselves and cats can finish anywhere from 6th to 8th
3. in theory yourselves and catalan could still finish 5th though it would require a hull v saints draw, and either catalan to beat wire by 100 points or yourselves to score at least 215 points in the last 2 games - or both
couple of caveats to the games - wire may well head to catalan knowing they are safe in second, so may play a weakened team. also your game v london, may be a possibility of it being london's last ever superleague game - could be an emotional match

| I assumed that the play off games would be 1v4 on thurs 2v3 fri and then the 5-8 games on the saturday, would give us a chance of a decent turn around. Looking at possibilities 5-8 may not be pos on Saturday due to citys home match. Has anything been said what games are when?

| Why cant they just have the old premeirship system
1v8
2v7
3v6
4v5
Straight knockout for a cup like it used to be.Hudds or Wire deserve to be champions, not a team from mid table.

From a practical point of view if Catalan get a home tie then would expect them to be given a Saturday fixture.
Not sure how things stand if FC get a home tie and are told to play on a Saturday? prior to Allam the ruling was that FC took priority from end of footie season to end of end of SL season (June - Sept), a precedent has been set I think a few years back when City had to move their fixture to the Sunday.
With City in the Premier League and the bad blood with Allam don't know what would happen now, hopefully SKY will use some common since and give FC the Thurs / Fri slot if not then a possibility FC game could be at a neutral venue (IIRC Wigan were in this position a couple of years ago, but Whelan eventually backed down, and the footie game was moved)
All conjecture as we may still finish 8th.

cartoons/WB17.gif I've been on the internet and have already got a sense of the fans' passion for the club. They are very fanatical - Peter Gentle 12th September 2011.

City did bring forward a game of theirs a few years back (2006/07 ?) in order to accomodate our play off game. I think we ended up kicking off about three hours after the end of their game which was some turnaround to pull off by the KC staff.
With City now being a part of the all powerful PL, that scenario seems unlikely to be repeated, and that's before we consider the slightly fractious relationship between the two clubs which appears to exist at the moment.
It would be ironic if we finish above you and still end up having to pay another visit to your place due to no other available options.
Of course, you still have two games to play and we have one, so there are still plenty of twists and turns to pan out.

Where are you going to sell 12000 tickets for a play off game?

You think you will get a bigger than usual crowd for an all pay game?

I can't be bothered to explain the history. See William Eve for details, plus MrPhilb's comments above. He understands.

You are as bad as comeonyoudull at manipulating dates to suit your argument. Your average home playoff gates for the last 5 seasons is less than 6,000. Statistics can show whatever you want them to.
