Quote: mean_machine "Could be argued any over seas signing is a risk really with a quota space and injuries. We signed Vaivai with 3 knee reconstructions and he turned out alright, Heffernan with some minor issues and he retires.

At least with garbutt you are not questioning his quality which is the other gamble with oversea's signings'"

As others have said, Garbutt is quality. He was our best prop by a long way. It’s very strange that we’ve sold him on.

garbutt is a great signing for rovers. Head and shoulders your best prop. There must have been something at leeds for them to let him go. Maybe he and furner have some history?

Pleased with this - seems pretty much nailed on now, and probably just waiting for his visa to be transferred.

Garbutt, Jewitt, Mulhern, Masoe, Scruton and Johnson is a decent sextet of props. You never know how it’ll turn out, but with the likes of Lannon, Tomkins and Greenwood in the backrow, there’s now no need to fear that ‘lightweight and mobile’ coach’s interview quotes.

Don’t think so but then I only watch the props every match.

Thank you I agree with most of that.

You underestimate our other props though I feel. Mulhern is quality and getting better and better. Mose Masoe can be a bit frustrating at times but he was good in 2018 and at his best quite unplayable. Jewitt is one tough hombre and Scruton a real good professional and tough as teak.

Johnson isn't too bad as a 6th prop and we can always ask the excellent James Greenwood to go back to his former position if required. We are really well covered in the middles now. Hull FC would without a doubt have been competing for Garbutt if they had not tied their hands with cap and quota.

I reckon that things have gone full circle............Rovers now have a better pack than Hull but you guys still have better and bigger outside backs. Half back well we still have a signing to come and Albert Kelly ...you've had a good run out of him as we did but anything else is a bonus. Connor is so much more likeable in an England shirt but I must now admit star quality.

Can't wait for the big kick off we'll be looking to dominate you down the middle and I think we will do.

Great signing for you guys.

Don’t think he and Furner have ever been at the same club so don’t think it’s anything to do with past history. Personally think Furner just has his eye on some big signings from the NRL and needs the quota and cap space, which is fine IF (a big if) they come off but if not then a dumb move, or it’s Sinfield is trying to show the squad that he’s the guy in charge now.

Missed quite a bit this year but not the injury crock sone are making out and played a respectable 26 of 36 games in 2017 where he averaged 140m a game.

This year in 9 games he did

123m
194m
152m
165m
160m
127m
150m
141m
12m from only 2 carries due to injury

Take away the shortened game because of injury and that 151m a game.

If he plays you’re getting significant 100m+ games most weeks.

I like mulhern but he's not as good as garbutt when he's fit. masoe is a pudding 5 games out of 6 and you were all calling for scruton to retire last year. The rest are just back up the same as we have.

I think rovers have the edge in the front row but Hull's back row is definitely better.

I'm glad you've admitted your jake love though icon_lol.gif He's my favourite player now that watts is no longer with us

Your FC credentials are shining brightly when you refer to Masoe.

Your aging second row came in for much criticism from fans last season so I’m pleased you can remain so optimistic. They are possibly both going on a season too long although maybe they did that in 2018.
