| Quote: The Goroka Gene-ius "The exact same line could be used to justify expenditure in East Hull, but for some (as yet unspecified) reason, you are strongly opposed to any public cash being used there.
You used to have the occasional class moment as a floating troll, now your anti-Rovers bitterness has spolied it.'"
I have no anti-Rovers bitterness. I just do not want more money spent on an area that has had Preston Road re-developed and has a new School in progress.
If just one Rovers fan could give a good reason why a new Stadium should be built in East Hull then I will consider changing my view but not a single reason has emerged.
The Boulevard work will benefit the whole area, Hull are also contributing to cost.
What would a new Stadium do for the area in East Hull some building work at CP wouldn't? What is being spent at the Boulevard could be spent building community beneficial projects at CP but no, Rovers fans don't want that because all they really give a stuff about is a new stadium for Rovers, they don't care what facilities are included for the local kids or jobless because it is all about the Rugby Stadium.
And if the stuff the players are telling people is true Rovers wont be needing any extra seats in CP for a while yet as results wont be picking up

Laughing at the fact a smug dwarf has made a big mess and cant find a way out of it is not Anti-Rovers at all.
I always want Rovers to win, whoever they are playing, and I think Rovers have some of the best fans in the game. I just dont like liars and I dont see the point for a stadium either. Hardly Anti-Rovers dross is it?

| I don't support a new stadium either, the development of Craven Park is far more realistic and more than meets the needs of the club in the medium/long term. However, I was just interested to see your stance on public finances and the distribution of them in the city.
Now I know.
And you do have an agenda when to comes to Rovers, lets not kid ourselves.

| My personal viewpoint is that people campaigning for a new super stadium in East Hull are wasting their time.
Everybody with Rovers interests at heart need to be focussing their energies into getting the East Stand completed (and then filled), and getting the old Greatfield school site fully functional to aid our community projects.
When the extended East Stand is full every week (along with mosts other parts of the ground), our community and educational projects are bursting at the seams at Greatfield and the NHS centre is a sucess then Rovers will have a great lever to go to the Council and other potential funding partners and show tangible proof that the North Stand extension is required with the additional community benefits it will bring.
Until then..

Good post. The only thing I'd point out, and it reflects my circumstances and preferences, is how difficult it is for me to get a ticket for covered seating (ie the West stand). It's pretty much impossible. I'd love to see progress on the North Stand. With the population getting older, good covered seating should remain a priority for the club.
Rovers must be among the SL clubs whose attendance is closest to capacity, despite some of the facilities being less than ideal. The case for expansion and improvement is pretty compelling, IMO.

I agree with that. I think the covered seating is the main issue - hopefully the north stand development will eventually provide this along with the extra facilities both corporate and community, the club needs.
I suppose the argument for a new ground, is that we already need to build two new stands, extend another and probably replace the west eventually. You're not far off a full new build there, but still with dated features like a lack of corporate boxes, posts supporting the roofs etc.
I agree with Digger's sentiment, that facilities are already available to the community and do not justify a new stadium, but would bringing CP up to scratch be [ithat[/i much cheaper cost-wise in the long term?
Perhaps we missed an opportunity of being involved with the freedom centre and the new academy.

[tongue in cheek mode] Write a letter to Hull City Council. I'm sure they will build a new stadium just for your needs. After all you do pay your taxes (I assume). [/tongue in cheek mode]
