| Tomkins gone. Not sure I am too bothered. As always, thanks for your effort and contribution. No idea why he has gone, but we cannot have anyone who is likely to miss matches due to temperament issues. Maybe he was targeted by the opposition, and reacted accordingly but it costs the team. He was an ok forward but never a stand out for me.
If you are going to have a "bad boy" in the squad, for me, they need to be top player who rattles the opposition and gets the home supporters on their side.. Don,t think that was the case with Joel. Was his heart in the club, not sure, with some it,s obvious, Stanley Gene, Clint Newton to name just two.Not bad boys, but seemed to love the club.Wish we could find two like them.
Good luck to him, just not against us.
We are now really lightweight for players, just hope the club does not make the same mistake again by going with a small squad.
Finding the players is now the issue.Lets hope Tony Smith and Danny McGuire are the right people to do it.

| Tomkins previously commented he didn't like Smith's coaching style. That's handy, because I didn't like Tomkins captaining style.
A good player that simply doesn't fit with the direction the club is now trying to go - a more open style of play rather than Sheens' more regimented style.
That salary cap is starting to get freed up......

The thing with Tomkins he was good in a good Wigan team I for one would never had made him captain and I do not think we will miss him

30596_1286642206.jpg If there is no struggle, there is no progress. Those who profess to favor freedom, and yet depreciate agitation, are men who want crops without plowing up the ground. They want rain without thunder and lightning. They want the ocean without the awful roar of its many waters. This struggle may be a moral one; or it may be a physical one; or it may be both moral and physical; but it must be a struggle.

| Decent player and more importantly, non quota. Never been a huge fan apart from his one handed carry.
Who is available at the same standard in the British market?
Having said that, if he wants to go, no point in keeping him.
For "compassionate grounds" read, "some RU wassocks have offered me more moolah".

| Tomkins hasnt really done it for me and i dont rate him as a captain either, too quiet for me.
Hopefully we can get someone younger with a bit of quality about them.
Its looking like we need a few players adding to the squad but the player pool isnt massive though, i think Smith will probably bring in young guys that he can develop more.

| Livett did more in 3 games than Tomkins did in 20. Gave away more penalties than metres he made each game. Very average and a poor leader.
I'd have the two kids from Warrington back if they were available.
Massively disappointing if we go anywhere near Patton or Myler. Both are terrible and worse than what we had to suffer this year.

Lord High Jehovah Ganesh Lakshmi Aethiest, i ruddy hope not. I'd rather sign my Grandma (finest woman to ever walk the planet) and she's been dead for nineteen years.

| With Tomkins going, I am not sure the SKD signing makes sense. We are quite well off in the backs already and with supposedly another 2/3 coming in, surely that quota spot could be used on either a top class half back or another big man in the middle of the park? I don't see much in the UK for either of these and as delightfully pointed out, the idea of matty smith/kevin brown as a 1st choice half back fills me with dread

Kevin Brown is Salford bound, matty smith is a potential, on loan to Wire from Catalans and with Maloney going to Wire, unlikely to feature much. Myler rumoured, not been great for Leeds, but out of favour if Gale is coming in with Lui.
Good cover at outside backs, Minikin in for Shaw on the Wing, Linnett as a running second rower I think would add value and threat, rather than just a yardage 2nd rower, he can do both and play decent minutes.
Obviously halfs are needed, plus another solid prop or second rower should be top priority, maybe one of each, that will lay a good platform.
