All of it tbh but I actually hope your assessment is right I'd love it to be so. I just don't have quite your belief, years of disappointment I suppose.

Quote: Egg Banjo "Grix doesn't really split opinion, pretty much every Wakey fan can see how important he is to the team and the work that he gets through. What does split opinion is with his understudies at fullback, young Jowitt is an excellent prospect but he struggles to get game time ahead of Grix (because Grix rarely does anything to risk his spot). We also have a younger player (Hooley) who is just breaking out of the academy and is putting pressure on both Grix and Jowitt for a spot. This is what causes tension amongst the Wakefield fans, many want Jowitt to be given more of a role in the fear that we will lose him if we don't. My hope is that with a reserve grade this season, he will be able to get some quality game time and continue to push Grix for the number 1 jersey.

Anyway, that's all but irellivant to Friday night, I'm expecting a tough battle which could go either way, but I think the size and mobility of the Wakefield pack will probably edge the game towards Wakefield in the final quarter. It should make for a good game though as long as the conditions aren't too poor.

Good luck for the season ahead'"

Sorry but that's not right imo. I'm pro Grix I think he makes a huge difference but there are loads who don't rate him and never will. You might not like it but it's a fact, a real marmite player if ever there was.

That is an absolutely massive overexageration as per usual for you, there were only a handful of posts on the Northstanders last season about him being poor, and a good 95% of responders were defending him. Same when you're stood in the terraces, a very small minority who moan about everything moan about him.

That's what I've read on your forum last few year,a real split over Grix.Of course last season was a pretty good one and smoothed it a bit? Fullback is great when your team is rolling forward and rarely are you left 1 on 1 with a 22 stone lump at full pelt and instead you are chiming in the line and finishing or providing final pass for try.Dixon and Cockayne for us last few Superleague season took more hits than Kiss.Dixon behind a dominant pack could/would have been a star imo.Again lots of ways this year can go for both our sides but hopefully we both prosper

Maybe? For my part I'm chuffed to have us back in top league again and hope the team surprise me and opposing fans with good solid rugby and we hold our own 1st season back?Don't think any of us expects anything more than mid table and maybe a cup run at best? I find it frustrating that no lessons seemed to have been learnt from the Sandercock/Chester regimes regarding the pack. With only Donno and Scruton to come in (maybe Lawler) Masoe aside we look relatively small again? Sheens knows more than me though so there is the counter argument that we will have to see how it goes and every team seems to have question marks over them

Quote: vastman "He does. Frankly Avenger is entitled to his opinion but personally I thought it a bit OTT. Far to early to be that confident imo no matter who you support. I'm just as nervous this year as any other tbh I've seen the wheels fall off before.'"

I don't think it's over the top, I think it's a fair assessment of our capabilities he's said it how it is, the problem is it's sport and things don't always go to plan, there's so much can happen bad refereeing, ill discipline, too many players having an off night, complacency, a team wanting to do well for their first home game back in SL, so your quite right in saying that we've seen the wheels drop off before, too many times unfortunately, I'll just settle for 2 points and no injuries.

I suppose it shows there's real lack of quality fullbacks around in SL if Grix still manages to get a game at a top8 club. He's a walking calamity.

Wakey (on paper) should be top8, maybe even sneak top4, I'm impressed with their squad overall, and they have some really exciting youngsters coming through.

You're deluded mate as usual - did you not see and hear the abuse he got after the Saints game! Get a grip man.

Here is our resident FC expert on all things rugby. I'd say Grix has better handling skills than Shaul and better defensively but of course your chav has raw speed. From what iv seen Shaul spills his share of high balls but because he hasn't had to defend that much he gets a lot of attacking ball.Different role nowadays and we have 2 small fast fullbacks at KR in Moss and Quinlan.May be a luxury? Hardaker was the perfect blend of old style fullback and modern extra pivot but unfortunately he spunked his talent

Why you going on about Hull FC, I didn't mention them or Shaul?

Just like your chairman did in the HDM Q&A published yesterday, totally unprompted uncle Neil started waffling on about Hull FC icon_lol.gif

Cop out of an answer, hey ho!

We’ve got a huge front row rotation, athletic back row, two good organisers at Half Back and pace across the three quarters complimented by an experienced Full Back.

I also pointed out some of our major flaws so no suggestion that we are unbeatable. As for not matching us for size, that’s based on this game and who’s in HKRs squad right now, it’s not aimed at every RL team.

I’m not sure how else anyone could describe the Wakefield team other than how I did

Didn't Want any passing Wakey fan to think you were a Robin. You gave us the benefit of your view on Grix and I compared him to your FB. Wrap up warm tonight it's a miserable cold day.Just got in from bit of graft and it's bitter. Shower then beer for me so I will keep an eye on how you go against Hudds. Hudds getting 10 start and in this weather may be a decent punt? Done Mamo or Rankin 1st try.

I wouldn't want them to think that either.

We should get the job done, but definitely worth a punt. Crap weather, perhaps one eye on the Aus trip, some players haven't had a run out in pre-season, you never really know what's going to happen in these early games.
