| Quote: Pats plastic pitch "Definitely not an FC fan or troll. You lot seem awfully defensive. think you know this is your biggest test yet. Not after a bite and I've already said in my first post Saturday will not be easy by any standards. The stats and figures don't really shine all that bright for either team, reality is we've played one more super league team than you's have and couldn't get the result.
I think after watching Leigh fall to pieces on Sunday, you's will probably be a tougher test now. May the best team win but yeah I think our pack the last couple of weeks have been brilliant. There aren't any big prop names who'll break the line every time like Fafita but our work rate lately has been nothing short of outstanding. As you would say about your lads.'"
Can't disagree that this will be our biggest test so far in this comp but that could equally be said about this for Widnes. The only team you've played who we haven't is Wire and fell way short, so with home advantage added that will certainly even things up.
We need to get the early intensity right and see if we can get the crowd bouncing, make it a bit of a couldron of old.

| Don't wish injury on anyone but below is a quote from Widnes website. Their starting 1 and 7 from this past weekend unavailable.
"Denis Betts has confirmed that fullback Rhys Hanbury will unlikely feature again in 2017 following the adductor injury suffered against Leigh Centurions.
Denis also confirmed that Danny Craven will miss out on Saturday’s trip to Hull Kingston Rovers, but will be assessed further later to see the full extent of the injury. It is hoped that Danny will be available to return for the Vikings remaining Super 8s fixtures."

30596_1286642206.jpg If there is no struggle, there is no progress. Those who profess to favor freedom, and yet depreciate agitation, are men who want crops without plowing up the ground. They want rain without thunder and lightning. They want the ocean without the awful roar of its many waters. This struggle may be a moral one; or it may be a physical one; or it may be both moral and physical; but it must be a struggle.

| Hanbury particularly and White were big ones to keep quiet.
Loss for The Chemic's.
The forward arguement is interesting. Jewitt seems to have been made aware that his penalty count was unacceptable and tempered his game whilst still being affective.
Scruton has had an absolutely stellar season, he'd have stood out in SL this year (and I'll stand by that), Masoe, can do better, Lunt is head and shoulders above anyone that they can bring, Kavanagh gains quick PTB all day.
Mulhern has been packing all year, Blair is on it and Lawler wants it.
I don't think we'll get bullied, if we want it and we make East Hull the fortress it should be, we'll get there.
If Widnes do it, then fair play.
They've not had a good team spirit this season, we need to jump on them and put doubt into there.
Then kill them.

| Hanbury is a big loss for them.
We have a much better coach than them. Lunt is again the key. However nerves may play a big part with us needing one win to go up.
We could get a role on and if we do they are in for a long afternoon. Masoe could play a bigger role. Our centres look a threat and it will be interesting to see if they can contain Carney.
Our points difference hides the fact that without our first choice 1 and 6 we've still been the better side in each game. Sheens' plans get us over the line in each game.

| Too many people on here seem awfully sure we'll win. I'll be there but I'll say Widnes are clear favourites for this game and rightly so. I'm not confident of a win but then again i'm always a pessimist.

| As I started this thread, this game is going to be tough.
In 2006 we had to beat Widnes to get promoted and were the underdogs, and here we are again although in different circumstances.

I don't know what Widnes forum you've read pal, but let me assure you that no one that I know thinks Saturday will be an easy victory. This year we've been excrement! On the contrary, its comical that there are HKR fans who seem to know Widnes' best side, and the brain surgeons think that Greg Burke will play centre! Just shows you how much they've watched Widnes this year! Greg Burke physique makes Mick Burke look like Seb Coe in his pomp! Anyway, see you Saturday!

| This is quite comical as most Widnes fans don't want Greg Burke in the 19 squad and since players have come back from injury he has not been in the squad. I am the first to say Burke is useless and I think he should be playing for Simms Cross as he is that bad. Gerrard coming back from injury is a big bonus for Widnes and Burkey won't be taking his place. Well no Widnes Fan will think it is easy unless they know nothing on Rugby League.

We certainly weren't underdogs in the 2006 GF. Having beaten Widnes at home in the semi, we were odds on to win that day.

I know Simmies are struggling, but to say Burke should be plying his trade on Leigh Rec is extremely harsh on Simmies!

So you go by what one fan said then? Probably knows nothing about Rugby League and the majority know it will be tough especially on your patch.

I thought that, we were massive favourites that day, so much so I managed to watch the game whilst so drunk I still can't remember a thing about it other than we were pretty comfortable most of the game. Must watch it back sometime.

To be honest we were terrible against fax and on that display they would have nothing to fear, we do seem to be able to match what ever oppo we play, which whilst no good for the old ticker against the lesser oppo it does seem to be effective against the better sides.
If I was a betting man, the pessimist in me would go for a narrow Widnes win.
