| And you lost by more to a much worse Widnes side. The green shoots of progress are showing. Believe and all that.

Good point, never thought about it like that. Needs someone who is used to watching a losing side to show you that every cloud has a silver lining

Are you under the illusions that Hull usually win or do you just not watch often?

....in a totally different game, last season wire started like a house on fire then went off the boil thinking it was too easy and we clawed the game back. Whilst not getting too carried away rightly with one win (against a depleted but still very good side, 12 of the grand final team), the manner of the performance is what's pleasing everyone.
There we were a team who could not defend to save our lives apparently with seemingly no chance of beating the big boys and only an occasional high scoring win to look forward to at a fellow strugglers expense and we turn in a thoroughly dominant performance in all aspects of the game against a decent side (except for a dodgy 10 minute spell in the middle of the 1st half), that's what's so encouraging. Of course it means nothing if we now lose the next 9 games but I think most people saw enough in that performance to see we'll be alright this season after all.

Indeed, however there were some good performances early on last season but, like most of superleague, rovers just don't have a good enough squad of players to keep up this level of performance week in, week out.
I'm glad you won anyway as I would have hated to see sandy sacked

non of last years good performances were as dominant and composed as that performance though against one of the big boys, even our big wins over hudds were typical rovers see saw affairs, as you say though we shall see.

Since Sandercock came to Rovers he's never once been able to start his strongest 17. Even Sunday saw Rovers with five players missing who would have normally been in the starting 17 and that could have been his strongest squad to date.

Its a meaningless argument looking at win, draw, lose scenarios during the season. Its more about how your team is settling into the competition and striving for a level of consistency.
In Rovers case, I am hoping the Warrington game is the yardstick but knowing Rovers, reknowned for being up for it against the top tier teams, the Jekyll is always just below the surface. Beating London (in London) will go some way to making a statement of intent.
