| Are we talking about cheap shot bullies or hard men? Because watching Roger play with assassanation squads after him and never hiding , is probably the true definition of a hard man.

| Rob Wilson was pretty hard. Can't remember many games going by without him having some sort of dust up.

a great point up until about the millenium when it was the norm to take out your opponents playmaker with late headshots the smaller guy,s showed tremendous courage, david topliss was the victim of many a brutal assault but always came back for more

| Talking of the little guys, does Burrow's swing at Lauaki last year count as brave or stupid?
Lauaki's bemused non-violent reaction was admirable.
Of modern players - Lee Mossop seems hard in an understated way. Once got knocked out cold. After treatment, got up to make a marker tackle on the next play. Set up a cup winning try after coming back on having dislocated his shoulder. Forward pass, like, but still.

| I remember David Plange involved in a good few scuffles for us, seen him fly in off from the wing to get involved in brawls in the middle of the park. Not saying he was the toughest but not many wingers like the amount of biff that Plange seemed to.

Mark Broadhurst, he was known in Aussie as one punch Broady, apparently thats all it took and if you saw the size of his fists (like shovels) you could see why, a real gent of the pitch though.

| Quote: suttonrobin "Nicked off the Widnes board. Who do you think is/was the hardest man to play the game. Mine is Kurt Sorenson.'" Sorensen = great player. Never in a million years the hardest though. Watching classic wire/widnes games in the 80s sorensen always looked for an easy target and steered well clear of Sir Les Boyd. Anytime he was foolish enough to mix it with boyd he ended up second best.

| David Luckwell and Dale Holdstock from more recent years. Always remember Luckwell getting set on by two Swinton players, flooring one then destroying another, picking up a red card for his troubles.
