| I must admit I'm struggling with this one, a lad with no 1st team experience being thrown straight into the team and coming against senior who has more experience of how to unsettle a new player than anyone in SL. We might just as well have thrown Mariano into the mix, moved Cook into centre etc.. still think this more than anything tells me we wont see Briscoe running out on Friday or next Thursday. Colbon may still be a bit off as well.

| Although i too cannot really see the need for this move, it must be said that although Frankie is a good lad and everything, anybody watching twenty minutes of him would see that he is miles off SL centre (or any other position) level..his appearance against Sheffield in the cup confirmed that..,i would respectfully suggest he would probably struggle to make it at Championship level at centre, he could be a forward at that level perhaps..
With some major games coming up i totally understand JMs reluctance to use him and would be very suprised if he was at the club next year, both from his own and the clubs point of view..
Saying that , when Colbon returns next week we have enough bodies of our own to cover the situation..Him, Cook and Lovegrove can all play centre if need be..

I don't think hardly any rovers fan will have seen charnley play, the argument isn't about how good your lad is, the argument is about bringing in a young lad who's never played first team (who we wont have a chance to sign for good no matter how well he does) when we should be giving our own lads a chance.
Whilst I agree the centres currently playing for the u20's are really from the u18's and not ready, I also agree Mariano who has been playing 2nd row isn't good enough as a superleague centre, we could easily play matt cook in the centres as he's had a number of games there for bradford and bring a youngster from the 20's in on the bench as a forward sub, someone like dominic dee, young green or even frankie.

I haven't seen him play.
My point isn't one of ability its one of principle. Why have young players at your club if your not going to play them. Charnley could end up a world beater, though he could also end up a panel beater. U-20's form is very unreliable as the competition is very ordinary imho.
To effectively give up on a player without giving him the chance to impress is what i am against.

| Quote: Gordon Gekko "Ahhh...the old '[ioh he's big he should be in the forwards[/i' line. He is not unfamilier with centre and has played enough there to do a job for the club. He is quick and big and could just cause Leeds a few problems with the ball given the chance. I guess had Greg Inglis have come through the ranks at Rovers he'd be playing prop now
I understand he trained today

30596_1286642206.jpg If there is no struggle, there is no progress. Those who profess to favor freedom, and yet depreciate agitation, are men who want crops without plowing up the ground. They want rain without thunder and lightning. They want the ocean without the awful roar of its many waters. This struggle may be a moral one; or it may be a physical one; or it may be both moral and physical; but it must be a struggle.

| Tough one really, if Mariano isn't up to it (which it would appear JM thinks he isn't) then in order to maintain our position then we do currently need somone to patch up the backs. Exactly how we expect an eighteen year old whose probably never even been to Craven Park, never mind learned our systems in a little over twenty four hours to achieve this is a bit beyond me.

| This lads only 19, if we sign him in a few years time on a mega bucks contract when hes just scored 5 against the Aussies, can we count him as homegrown

You could very well be right....would it beyond the realms of comprehension to suggest all other super league clubs have to comply with this rule aswell.
