| Quote: laboratoire garnier "indeed - maintaining pressure is what its all about. Here is what Tony Smith had to say
Wire's performance was pretty good. Missing 6 (compared to our 3), your team still looked much better on paper and you're translating that into performance on the pitch now. With an excellent coach ('Inevitable' was a poor choice of word, mind) and such a strong squad, you have to be considered genuine contenders. Rovers performance, which is what I care about, has to be viewed in that context. 'A' for effort 'C-' for execution.
Against weaker teams and with better luck we do okay. Until our execution improves we won't beat the better teams or be able to overcome adversity.

would a move to 6 for galea be a option?'"
He can play there, he has done with some success, but last season we had one of the top back three's in SL with Galea, Newton (both dream team) and Murrell. Why did Morgan decide to split it up and not bring in a six if he wanted rid of Cooke, doesn't make sense and we are now suffering for it IMO.
I would go back to having those three were they were and try someone at six for the remainder of the season, maybe Cockayne.

| Good to see wire arrogance, they already think they are the best team, which will make for good viewing when they fall.

| Quote: Mild Rover "Our play is neither clever nor intelligent at the moment, so we have to work too hard. No lack of effort, very little rhythm.
I'm not somebody who subscribes to 'don't care if we lose, so long as the effort is there', but it is some consolation. Use your brain though and you don't have to bust a gut quite so much.
That bloke who said we're a better team without Cooke - Rea was it? - he can f-off.
Don't know the circumstances of his departure or the rights and wrongs of the situation, but I do remember having a sense of optimism, even anticipation when we got into an opponent's 20 last year.'"
In fairness to TR he did not say get rid of Cooke and don't replace him, that's Rovers big problem right now they ahve not replaced Cooke.
I thought you played well last night, maybe not offensively but in defence was showed desire and commitment. Wire always looked they would eventually score points and kept breaking your line but Rovers were hanging in well. That kind of defence will win you games in the coming weeks, what needs to be sorted is the offence, right now it's Dobson or nothing.

| I've said this for ages but for me we're a thick team that can only execute training ground moves. If it hasn't been explained to the players ad infinitum from a clip board we've just got no idea. Galea is the one player we've got who plays with any intelligence yet our game plan this season seems to be to give him the ball and decision making opportunities as little as possible.

Would have been a different story with carvell, morley and westwood in the team though
rovers have spent a large amount of money on their 1/2 backs, one of whom has gone and the other is underperforming (or maybe just performing at his level now). As Hull have proven, you can't win games without decent half backs

Agree with that.

Blooming heck, even most of that. Wire's squad has great depth. Their recruitment has been second to none over the last three years and that year on year investment is paying dividends. Last year's cup win will breed confidence - they've got a chance this year.
As you say you can't win without decent halves, so Rovers were right to spend there. Dobson is a good player - put him next to Briers, behind Morley, Carvell, the Andersons, Westwood, Solomona and the rest, with 2 of King, Atkins or Bridge at centre and he'd look amazing. Quality attracts quality - I wouldn't be amazed if Myler really did take less than Salford were offering.

| the difference with us this year is that the players seem to have belief in each others capabilities. I thought we might lose to you last night with a weakened team but there seems to be some real confidence at the moment.
For KR, I thought you seemed a little one dimensional in attack and Dobson wasn't at his best. You seemed to overrun the pass and execute poor 5th tackle options too oftenwhich left us picking up the ball on our 40 or better - makes it difficult to win from that sort of position.

Story of our season to a tee.

| With our only real attacking option in Dobbo wer relying on he forwards battring down the middle to get into there half so we can bring dobbo into the game, the trouble is our forwards arnt big enough to get us there which is leading to a poor 5th tackle play. Teams are starting there sets on the half way line putting us on the back foot straight away.

When did Wigan fans get so bitter and obsessed about Wire? Isn't hating Saints enough?

I'd agree with that.
The biggest surprise for me was how poor the kicking game was. Apart from the kick for Welham's try just about every other was pants and allowed Wire to immediately pressure the Rovers defence. I realise that Dobson was often kicking from poor field possession, but given his reputation as a kicker he was well off form.

Not once did Dobson have a blocker though, i agree with you but surley you need to protect your kicker to give him time.

I don't think its down to the forwards. I think our pack is decent and can mix it with the best.

He's never been that great. And therein lies the problem; it's not the forwards that fail to gain field position, it's our kicking game.
Dobson's a good halfback and a top goal kicker, but his general kicking is vastly overrated IMO. Also rarely gets any distance on kicks for touch or dropouts either.
