The Rugby Football League are in the process of reviewing the video that you are referring to. We do not condone behaviour of this nature and have contacted the player’s employer, Hull F.C., who have confirmed that they are dealing with the incident under their club rules.

As for the rest of it the current rules only apply to players in SL pre feb 2008.
Even then it seems (The RFL had to clarifiy this as their first press release was far from exact on the subject) it only applies to players who would have a right to work here (EU passport) or Kolpac that narrows us down to just Vella (Maltese) and Fisher (Scottish) when those 2 leave or quit we will be down to the same number as everyone else.
Although with all that said there will be a fair few players in SL who fall in the correct situatiuon (Pre feb 08+EU passport/kolpac) who will all recive Fed trained status to keep the numbers higher than they should be.'"
if i'm right, i may not be, your wrong there.
fisher would be on the 4 year residency rule and vella wouldn't qualify.
the rule you talk of only applies if the player is in his last year of contract, when vella and fisher extended their contracts they both had over a year to run.

The lawyers on here may contradict this, but I was told that these 'rules' are not enforceable in law, so the RFL had to come up with something to allow EU passport holders who are not club/fed trained to stay. Any EU passport holder is entitled to work in any EU state, so by saying to a player who is originally from Aus, but has been granted EU status by somewhere like Malta 'you cannot ply your trade as a rugby league player in the UK' would in effect be breaking EU employment/freedom of movement of labour laws.
I doubt even the brave folk at Red Hall would fancy that fight.

The whole point of these rules is that they have nothing to do with nationality.
That's why we talk about 'overseas trained' rather than overseas born.
There is no discrimination for other nationalities no matter what it says on your passport. No one will be denied because they are from the EU or anywhere else.
If you were 'trained' here you can play even if you are a true blue Aussie, Maltese or from the moon. If you were 'trained' elsewhere you cannot play here even if you are British. (of course there have been some exemptions granted regarding this).
With football recently adopting similar rules I don't think anyone need fear court action especially as these rules have the full approval of all the clubs including Rovers.

Which both come up at the end of the 2010 season.
As far as I understand it (Could be wrong) the new exemption applies to those players who were classed as none fed trained (4 year or EU passport I belive) under the old rules.
As you say Fisher counts under both situations and AFAIK Vella recived his EU passport and would have also counted that was untill they changed the rules.
That would make them both prime candidates to apply and recive the Fed Trained status.
Also I seem to remember (again could be wrong) that the rules used the term 'current contract' when it mentioned being able to apply.
Therefore even if a player got a new deal surely the 'current contract' they were talking about would still have expired on the same origonal date new deal or not, The only question would be does the 'ended' date apply to the origional end date or does it apply to when the 'currect contract' becomes null and void as it has been replaced.
I dont think I remember this being a 'now or never' situation anfd any player who is under these rules umbrella can apply when they are next able to.
What i'm not sure about is that is Makka still able to apply for fed trained status as he is still in the english game or is it SL only.

Unless im reading it wrong they can sign for another SL team at contract end and still get Fed trained status even if they sign for another team.
