They can chose any of the 3 as far as I'm aware.

Maybe, but we historically do better against saints than hudds do. Maybe our game doesn't suit saints an they would feel more confident of breaking down a structured hudds side, or psychogically they may fancy having an early crack at Leeds... Whoever they pick it will just serve to motivate the oppo...

| I think the fact we've got the CC semi & final weeks off will give the players the rest they need and if you look at our form after 13 games (having played everyone whether home and away) we were a Jake Webster finger tip from being the top of the table which proves we are a top side providing our 80 min players i.e. Galea & Newton are not burnt out.
Leeds & Saints form isn't starling at present and if we can reproduce our early to mis-season form then we can definitely win the title.

On a similar not, assuming Rovers finish 4th, who would we want to top the table and therefore play us in the first round?

Wikipedia agrees with you - fwiw!

If Saints and Leeds lost in round one, but then won the next week, the choice of SF opponents would pass to Hudds, rather than going on League position. I think.
Edit: Also Rovers and Hudds would be at home.

| If all teams were at full strength I would say we are not good enough to go all the way, But Saints are hitting a wall at the moment, Leeds are looking a bit weary although they like Rovers will have the semi & final weekends off. The Giants for me are the team who will have the best chance of winning from outside the top two they have shown they can mix it with everybody & had the game plan to Handle Rovers twice, Its just a question if they can hold there form together in the cup & league & stay free from Injuries. Rovers can beat anyone on the day but like all the others they must have luck with injuries.if the others can not hold their form then anything is possible. At least there are new names in the mix.For me I would like to see a Warrington v Huddersfield cup final, & Rovers/Giants/Wigan grand final, but I suspect Leeds or Saints will have something to say about it. It makes a change from past seasons though.

| I'm enjoying all the speculation/gossip about who plays who and who is allowed to choose who in Week 3; the bare facts are that I've got an honours degree in applied maths but fully understanding Club Rovers and the Play-off system is making my brain hurt with all the ambiguous wording prone to misinterpretation. And I thought that rugby was meant to be a simple game!
As mentioned in earlier posts we'll have to beat St Helens (twice?) and/or Leeds on their own mud to get to Old Trafford. In reality finishing 4th is great and means that if it goes to form then we should make it through to Week 3. Even if we lose then, what a game that would be! And playing in (perhaps) 3 play-off games would give us a great platform for next season (with a couple of cracking new signings please).
Winning every game to the end of the season makes it less likely that we'll be seen as an easy pick in Week 3 so there's still lots to play for this season.
C'mon you Reds!

30596_1286642206.jpg If there is no struggle, there is no progress. Those who profess to favor freedom, and yet depreciate agitation, are men who want crops without plowing up the ground. They want rain without thunder and lightning. They want the ocean without the awful roar of its many waters. This struggle may be a moral one; or it may be a physical one; or it may be both moral and physical; but it must be a struggle.
