Quote: hullkr14 "With respect (because you normally talk a lot of sense on here) I am not saying that I expect anything in return, in fact I am saying the opposite. Yes I have been supporting rovers for a long time but I do not feel they owe me anything for that. What I am saying is why do we need to introduce a scheme that divides it's supporters? And if we really must have a scheme why has it been brought in so quickly, therefore not giving those who can't afford to join now the chance to join later and still get the same benefits?

For me there is one simple solution. Put the prices of the passes up and be honest about the reasons why, and make all season pass holders members of club rovers. Do it in january so that people have the chance to save up.'"

I agree with you on the timing of the announcements etc. and I think it would be a good idea for the club to extend the deadline for the pass price freeze so people have more time. I do think marketing is an area where Rovers need to improve.

The club saying something like you suggested ("we need more money to continue competing at this level and are therefore raising pass prices next year"icon_wink.gif would be a PR disaster. It makes far more sense to launch an "exciting new scheme like no other" to increase income [iand[/i give the fans something for their money and an incentive to join.

Yes that probably would be a PR disaster, but as I said at the very start I will not be joining until there is a decent incentive to do so. At the moment I cannot see many benefits for me personally and of my many family and friends who go to rovers none of them have joined so far, I can only draw my own conclusions from that.

Got to agree with most that has been posted here, I would have thought increasing prices this year, including a 'club' membership in the pass and then giving those people the benfits of being a member would have been the best idea.

The deadline is the most ill thought part of the scheme in my view. If the club said basically you have until the end of september to purchase your pass it will cost x for the basic pass and x+y for the pass plus CR membership with added benefits of shirt disount, next year pass freeze etc then they would get a lot higer take up and it would be better recieved.

If I had until January to buy both my pass and my membership to Club Rovers I would probably join. I don't claim to be one of the 1500 diehards, although I can claim to have supported Rovers from 1977 - 1993 home and away until other commitments came along. I'm a 'returning fan', who's 'commitments' have now grown up and also become interested in Rovers, we've gone as a family of four since 2005. Each year season passes have been bought around Christmas when we've always got ours during the discounted period. We will hopefully buy our passes at the same time for next season, giving Rovers the same amount of money, or actually slightly less, but getting no benefits - that's the way it is for us and I have to accept that. I don't want any special treatment, I just want to be on a an equal footing with all other fans in the ground, not a second class fan. A 23% increase is alot to stomach in current times, but if we can possibly do it then we will be there.

i was at the meeting and the full reasons behind the scheme seem very well thought out, to date the have already 1500 members signed and the intrest has been massive, if you have any questions or qualms about the scheme dont rely on 3rd or 4th hand info just contact the club direct

Won't be buying one, don't see any incentives. If they want to charge more for a pass then fair enough, but it's disgusting the whole 'scheme' and the way they're doing it.

I thought i had heard somewhere that the monies raised were going to help build the East Stand Extention?

If this is the case, it seems as a good idea as building this space will increase revenue that may have been lost by giving the discount specified

If it is to pay the bills, does not seem a good idea!

Did they say want the needed the money for?

Did you get rid of all the voices in your head? Do you now miss them and the things that they said?:

I know they think we are skint!

But it matters to me why they want the money, as said above if it is going to help build the east stand extention, i'm in

If it's to fund the east stand extension then why don't they just say that? Far more people would join the scheme I am sure.

Quote: "What will my subscription money be used for?
Partly, your membership fee goes to subsidising the costs or freezing season pass prices for the next two years. It also helps us to offer free a wide range of benefits for children. In addition, installing a fully integrated turnstile system costs a considerable amount of money and your subscription will help to fund that.'"

No mention of the East Stand there.

This seems unfair to one of the most loyal and supporting fans in the league. I hope all goes well for you lot and the atmosphere at Craven Park stays the same.

Maybe because you were £2.4m in debt in 2007 and have since posted another hefty loss (reportedly)? icon_wink.gif

So far the scheme is likely to have raised cash of (typical split):

800 @ full price (£60) = 48,000
250 @ concession (£30) = £7,500
250 @ £0 (childrens) = £0
Total £55,500

Less costs of additional administration (as there'll still be the standard admin of the season passes), costs of the card and flier design and production and postage of the vouchers. Would doubt this net amount would put much of a dent in the debt or the costs of extending the ground -put into context it's about 12 days of the player wages bill if you're spending the full cap. Weighed up against PR that's been mixed at best, so far you'd question whether it's been worth it, but there should be a surge in demand at the end of the month.

Standing up to the forum bully. It must be working, he doesn't like me...i'm devastated:

Many high profile soccer clubs in the Premiership offer these schemes and Chelsea and Bolton for instance, i believe, offer similiar schemes to the one at Rovers. Whatever fans think of this iniative or similiar schemes this will be copied in future seasons by most of the progresive clubs within Super league and is also being looked at by other sports. One of the objections put forward is the timing but to be honest there is no right time to start this kind of scheme given the current economic situation and to be fair to HKR the guy who is overseeing matters has only been employed for a few months so it would have been difficult to announce it prior to the season.
