CS instructed to go for the field goal which, I'm sure you realise, is Aussie speak for a drop goal.

You'd be equally quick to acknowledge that Dobson made a great take from Lovegrove's pass last year and would have scored (probably more easily) if had have been flat?
Green may well have been unfortunate to be offside, but he was, so good running but poor positional awareness. Another 2 yards and Eden has a better second bite - but like the field goal we were going to try to work position for, we can only speculate.
You won, that's all there is to it. There were decisions that went both ways in the game, that were marginal or controversial and could be viewed as having influenced the outcome. Same as any close game. The timing and, particularly, the ineptitude involved in giving Green's try makes in especially noteworthy - and despite Wilson's instruction/appeal to 'move along' I would like to know a bit more about what happened.
Partly in case there are lessons to be learned, but also to with reference to Jon Sharp's talk of transparency. Not an inquisition - just a bit more flesh on the bones of 'tracked the wrong man'. I don't for one second question his integrity, and even if did I see no motivation. If you track the wrong man you see he's the wrong man. 'Misidentifying the player and failure to track', would be sufficient for me as an explanation, if that is the case and although comes across as half-assed, there's no escaping that. It can be passed off pretty painlessly as clarification of a slightly imprecise description of the event.
If it were something else - like compensating for stuffing up Hull's tackle count, then I'm torn over whether I want to know or not. The renewed controversy it'd spark would be bad for the sport. But it'd raise some pertinent questions about how much consistency and common sense a VR should employ. Should it just be tick boxes? If there's a clear forward pass in the play and the grounding is questionable, should/does the benefit of the doubt over the latter shift slightly?

| Mike Stevenson on Sky Sports News calling for a replay with all proceeds going to charity. Hull are going to have to move pretty quickly on this one to get this organised in time for the blank weekend when the exiles game is played.

I like andy Wilson, he's a fair minded bloke and calls it right most of the time.
He's wrong about there not being a hint of trouble though, as anyone who witnessed the scrap in the St Helens end on Saturday night will testify to.

We will both have a blank weekend at the end of July too.

No!
Thankfully it won't happen - but the game ends when the ref blows his whistle, for better or worse, warts and all. Where do you stop - Salford's 14 men? Alibert's 7th tackle tries?
You'd surely have to refund the Magic tickets so where is the additional Charity cash coming from?
And the comparison with that Arsenal - Sheffield Utd incident doesn't apply (that Studd made on SLBC), IMO, as that was something an Arsenal player chose to do.
I'd expect Hull fans to boycott it anyway, and wouldn't blame them especially.
Thanks Stevo, nice sentiment, but not for me.

Hasn't Dobbo been called up for the Exiles squad? Along with Paea and Paterson?

Tbf, if we're excusing Green his positioning because of Thaler's fou, err, ifth call, and the odd play that resulted, Eden can use the same excuse for his.
The dummy drive and aimless bomb - could become SL's answer to the flea-flicker.

| Glad somebody picked up on Thalers contribution to this. You see refs lose count quite often though, weren't the Hull players counting either?
Every man & his dog have had a say now, not seen any statement from Ganson though? Poor form imo.

| If the RFL is supposed to be accountable, transparent and whatever other management speak Jon Sharp chooses to spout at us the point here is that there has been no explanation to the paying speccies.
Accountable and transparent do not sit well with me as descriptions of private conversations between Sandy, Hudge, Sharp and Ganson.
This is already being swept under the carpet so we will probably have to wait til Ganson's autobiography before we have a story. Even then will it be the truth?
The bottom line is that the guy either isn't up to the job or something else distracted him last Saturday.
It's easy to track the wrong guy on first viewing of the video replay but once he knows who scores the try surely with HD pictures and a wider angle than we see on TV it's impossible to see how a competent official could get that wrong on a 2nd, 3rd, nth viewing which he has at his behest. Suggesting we need 2 people to do that job is ridiculous and an insult to every working person. Most of us do responsible jobs and accept the accountability that comes with that, we don't have the luxury of people shadowing our every move as an independent check.
Whether he is a nice guy or not is irrelevant to me. We all have minimum standards to achieve in our jobs and those who don't meet them have to go.
Ganson is a laughing stock. He ruined last year's Magic derby which Hull FC deserved to win and ruined this year's when Hull KR deserved to win. Jon Sharp is a unconvincing laughing stock for publicly backing this clown.
The current British pysche for saying lots but doing nothing means we should be expecting that ubiquitous enquiry that seems to folllow all scandals but we aren't even being offered that.
Ganson should have been on Boots and All to explain himself. If it was an honest mistake he could have taken us through his thought process in real time.
I was philosophical about it after it happened but am more and more angry at the insulting way paying speccies have been ignored this week. Anyone would think there was something to hide?
Also, I won't go to the Ethiad (or wherever) again unless the allow people to take their own food and drink in (I'm not talking alcohol). Yes, I know people smuggled stuff in and some people went under the radar oblivious to it but the principal is that it's not on to expect people to be in a stadium for 9 hours paying those prices for a family. Beer was (as expected) extortionate but I can live with that. Ticket prices are good but it'd interesting if there are any plans to get more people there as there is capacity.
All in all a fantastic weekend. I hope that everyone enjoyed it as much as we did.

Gutted I left at HT in that game now! We swapped ends after the derby, mainly because we planned on supporting Saints and it was quicker to the exit. But there was a group of lads pi$$ed as newts who wouldn't sit down and in the end were told to by the police and eventually moved along, one was ejected before HT. Was it them? Noticeably none of them were wearing any Saints (or any other teams) attire.
