| I cannot condone what he did, regardless of the circumstance.
Im an FC fan and making an example of him would not be beneficial to anyone. There have been numerous misdeameanours from more 'high profile' stars - so the example should have been made of them.
Unfortuntely, if your life (and wage) is derived on performing in the public eye, then youre actions must also be be based on what happens in the public eye.
You cannot simply shirk your reponsibilities once off the pitch.
Morgan has huge respect from his players, and he'll certainly be talking to BC. Im sure people like Vella and Gene will also be sorting BC out.
All the best to Kr in the Derby. Lets hope it all stays on the field.

What ben has done is wrong and should of warrented a jail term of more than 3 nights, but who am i to judge, he has been up in court and has recieved his punishment although lenient indeed there are far worse crimes and more dangerous people let off for far worser crimes see here

| Quote Neil HFC="Neil HFC"I agree, I was gobsmacked when Raynor (I assume that's who you are referring to) got off with the sentence he did, and Cooke before him.'"
Especially as a racial element to ANY crime seems to carry a jail sentence. I think any act of violence that results in such convictions deserves a jail stint, Cockayne, Raynor, Pryce or Reardon and it seems that sportsman are immune from being banged up.

| Quote therobins="therobins"And if he was a Hull FC player, would you and your cronies be so vociferous on the subject? If your presence here is a Hull v Rovers thing (which it obviously is), go sell your crazy some place else.
Ben did wrong. Not for you or I to stand in judgement. Let those in more elevated places than we do that. End of story.
High time this one was locked.'"
I think the majority of the more sensible FC fans on here HAVE condemned thuggery by their own players, admittedly some are treating it like a Rovers v Hull FC thing, but at the end of the day Ben was convicted of a serious offence, which some of us believe (when taking the supporter bit away) that he deserved a bit of slopping out time, this also goes for Raynor as well as any other thug in a rugby shirt.
Ben has had his sentence, some think it was lenient, some don't and as a player on match days he will get my support, but I hope he has learned his lesson and knuckles down to develop himself both as a player and as a man and cut out the crap, he is capable of becoming a much better player.
He also has to remember he is a role model for all the kids who adore him because of his commitment and love of this club.

| Would Rovers be tempted to pre-empt the RFL and suspend Cockayne internally? (or has this been done and ive missed it?)

Same here. I doubt that retrospective action can be considered and it's unfortunate for Rovers that the first strike could be against one of your players, but the sooner the RFL do something the sooner this sort of behaviour could be stamped out (sorry) and RL be truly seen as a family sport. Recent news stories seen to portray a number of players as thugs and we don't need that.

| I think the RFL statement takes things out of the club's hands. If there is to be a rugby based punishment, they will decide. Which is perhaps is as it should be and at least saves Rovers from having to make a controversial decision.
Clubs are always going to luck after their own interests. I can think of a very good example - but stating the obvious truth of that situation might technically be libellous.
If the RFL does adopt a new hardline approach, then fair enough they have to start somewhere. As long as they are consistent and don't revert to minding their own business when a high-profile international player is in trouble.

Personally i think it would be a fantastic PR move for Rovers to make a decision here and ban him for a short period of time, simply to make the point that as the employer of a family club this will not be tolerated.

| Well i hope he will not be playing at the KC in the derby.
If he is i may strongly think about boycotting until the game is clear of thugs
