Do they miss it?
I think so.
Speaking for myself Blakey, the answer to your first question is no.
Whilst I agree 5500 fans standing can create a great atmosphere,I do prefer now,to sit down.
An age thing probably.

| Quote: insider knowledge "Back to topic, despite the Generals optimism on crowd increases, I have been watching Rovers for over 35 years and we have never regularly got over 9000 average crowds never mind 10,000. I am concerned that despite a successful 2009 we averaged under 9,000 average crowds. I just don't think there are any more fans out there who will regularly attend. The extension is great news for existing fans but expecting that to balance the books is short sighted and folly. We need to budget within our means or suffer the consequences. If this means spending less on players salaries, so be it. Better to be a SL also rans long term than a short lived success going bust. '"
On this threadhttp://forums.rlfans.com/viewtopic.php?t
its been established that the last 3 years crowds are already exceeding the 80's glory years. A similar story exists across the city. The game is more popular (at least at club level) than 25 years ago. I think for anyone to put a ceiling on Rovers crowd potential based on history is ignoring the bigger picture.
Rovers can easily go beyond 10,000 average if the facilities (including a decent view) improve, and the side remain competitive on the pitch. Therein lies the balancing act.

| i could be wrong, but havent i read that your average gate went down slightly last season.
whilst i'm glad ur getting the extension some of ur loyal fans deserve,i do think u ought to provide cover on the away end.its not the 1950s is it,and clubs need to realise you cant treat fans(home or away) like cattle anymore.
the really shameful thing is that both clubs are getting their projects part funded by the health authority.i know the medical facilities will benefit the hull public, but surely given the cash coming into both clubs from gate £,merchandising, sky & sponsorship, they should be self sufficient.(and idealy would be donating cash to the health authority not the other way around)
if all rugby clubs are struggling,is the salary cap too high?

Yes, by a massive 0.31% Thats equivalent to one of the Salford taxi's breaking down on the M62 and missing the game.
Speaking of covering away ends up, I agree, and would welcome Leeds, Wakefield, Catalans & Bradfrod also offering the away fans a roof.
Given the average away following at Rovers is about 400, I think the club have got their priorities about right.

| if you make the away end more comfortable dont you think you'll attract more away fans.on bad weather days yours(& a few others)grounds hardly encourage away fans to attend.
you go back to places youve had a good time.even if you go away and win,but youve spent the game huddled up shivering and soaked to the bone,ur less likely to go back in the colder months.
as you say, you have no trouble attracting home support,so why not also entice some away support n boost ur coffers.

This is a fable over these parts. I can't quote figures, but I suspect away fan numbers at the KC are basically the same as ours. Many away fans bemoan our facilities, but in reality its just an excuse. The real reason is the length of the M62 and not the lack of a roof on our away end.

| cant say i know the figures, but if both hull clubs can travel well once a fortnight, what is stopping other clubs travelling to hull twice a season.
i would ask you though,if you were a an away fan from the west riding or lancashire etc, which ground would you rather go to in the colder wetter months.an open to the elements craven park(easter 200icon_cool.gif,or a seated covered kc?

That's an easy answer. Whichever ground my team was playing at! It may come as a surprise, but having been weaned on a diet of Batley, Whitehaven, Leigh (Hilton Park) etc, we don't mind a bit of rain, snow, etc if it means we get to see our team.
Decent facilites are for ponces!

I think the other clubs have a different map, which shows Hull as being near Moldova
only Leeds and Wigan bring a consistently good following over. I suppose Wakefield and Cas bring a decent number compared to how many they get at home..but the others bring a joke following to the KC.

If everything but 1st is irrelevant - why not stick with him, because I can't see anybody dragging you from 12th to 1st this year. It is only a game afterall and not worth someone losing their livelihood over, surely.
To be honest mate I've been watching Hull for over 30 years, seen some good, lots of bad and occassionally some bl00dy brilliant. I watch a lot of amateur games and like to watch entertaining rugby. My first desire is to see Hull win, but a very close 2nd is to be entertained. I've seen Hull lose plenty of games where I've enjoyed the game but haven't been enjoying the rugby on offer from Hull for some time. I'd happily take us being competitive and playing entertaining rugby but can't see it happening with agar in charge. He's too one dimensional for me and needs to go if we are to progress.
Is that OK by you?

Dunno about anyone else but I'm not. I take my 6 year old and he wouldn't be able to see. Anyway, who'd want to stand with 5499 chavs?
