Gotta love the backtracking by certain Rovers fans about the ability of SB now he plays for them

I THINK WHILE SB PLAYS FOR ROVERS HE WILL BECOME AN EVEN BETTER PLAYER. I DONT THINK HULL GOT THE BEST OUT OF HIM. JUSTIN WILL GET THE BEST OUT OF HIM. INTERESTING TO SEE HOW MANY MEDALS HE LEAVES ROVERS WITH CERTAINLY MORE THAN HE LEFT HULL WITH.

I think thats because as Rugby people many knew the qualities of Briscoe but as a Hull player they would hardly sing his name from the rooftops.

I was actually gutted when Hull signed him from Wigan as he showed what a good player he was there.

And i was then gutted he signed for Rovers - quality full back as you are all seeing now. Anybody who thinks Tony is the answer to full back they are deluding themselves - he cant pass to his right - as was evident on Friday night - and he has to take a high kick facing sideways - he doesnt fill me with any confidence!

Always said Briscoe was a great solid player who you can count on. Rovers have got themselves a good quality player who will give 110% every game he plays. I do not think you can compare him to Tony as they both play a different style. Obviously Tony fits into sharps plans better than briscoe did, and when you look back at selections he has always favoured Tony over Briscoe at FB. Why?? I dunno

If he spilled the ball would it be classed as a knock on ?

That's a weird opinion. He's left handed and more comfortable passing to his right. The pass that went astray on Friday was probably more to do with him nearly being decapitated a minute earlier.

He is quality but this is one side of his game that lets him down every time

I thought common practice was to look at the ball face on - if the ball is spiralling or is being affected byt he wind you have more chance to adjust than if you are stood on a side.



Standing on a side shows a lack of confidence of taking a high ball, IMO

Ask yourself the same question.





Three years ago maybe, but now it's one of his strongest assets, ask Rob Burrow.

He was passing to his right all night. The pass I assume you're on about (the forward one) was a long pass attempted just after he'd been clocked in the mush by Pickersgill and he clearly wasn't quite right.



As a matter of interest, how many pin-point long distances passes to the right to you reckon Briscoe puts out in a season?



Oh - and the "taking a high ball sideways" thing proves you don't watch matches very closely.

One on one tackling I'd agree.



Running the ball back was still a weak point IMO - probably his only one TBF.

Well i play the game and personally, i would always try to take the ball front on - thats all im saying

i prefer clubs

If you've got the time, taking the ball facing sideways is much more sensible. Why take the risk of knocking-on if it is an unnecessary risk?

Catching a high ball side on is the correct way to do it for various reasons:



1. Less chance of a knock on



2. You have a stable platform (assuming your feet are on the ground) to withstand the tackler coming in



3. You present the hard parts of your body, Knee, elbow, shoulder to the tackler and protect the softer mid section.

Good in defence, offers little in attack. Was evident in the derby, whenever he got the ball in the attacking line he looked like he had no clue what to do.
