But he was released on companionate grounds is moving to London on compassionate grounds don't make me laugh

| Quote: easthull4 "Why don't they just be honest when they say they are going home say they are leaving to join another club that's taking the urine in my mind he has given great service to Rovers no arguments there I'm sorry to see him go I would rather him play for us than London I would have more respect for some of these players
As far as getting a grip I am entitled to say what I think and do not need advice from you There have been more Australian players over the years took the club as mugs from the so called legend Gavin Miller to Dobbo have used the club the latest being Travis Burns when he goes to St Helens with still a year to go on his contract what are contracts worth .'"
If anything we've taken the urine out of Rhys, he's put in a good stint for us and there were issues at Rovers that over the last couple of years must have had him feeling victimised. I have often questioned his ability in defence but would never have questioned his commitment to HKR. I honestly think that if he had not had to deal with the Sandercock era he would have seen his days out with us.
Also why pick out the Aussies for taking the urine, surely Josh fits in there as well using your logic.

Contracts are contracts how the hell can clubs plan for the future if players and there agents decide to jump ship with a year or so to go on there current deal.
Ok Josh is another one I am a great believer in being honest as supporters we pay hard earned money in following this great club and to see players in my mind take the urine out of us by not seeing out an agreement the club now have to find three more players for next year than they thought they needed to. How would the players feel if the club sacked them for not producing the goods with a year or so to go on there contracts they would be at the solicitors office quicker than some of them run on the field.

There has to be agreement on both sides to end a contract early whether this is at the behest of the player or the club. As you do not know the circumstances behind the discussions how do you know if people are being honest. Rather than make general statements say who you think is being dishonest and why. Be careful though as there could be legal implications. It happens all the time with all clubs. Circumstances change and sometimes contracts are renegotiated. You just seem to be using the situation to have a dig at all and sundry.

I feel a a supporter we are being let down by players that we pay part of there wages I am not having a dig as you put it at all sundry but at players who sign a CONTRACT for a set period then ask for a transfer before it is finished? in some cases it benefits the club as they get transfer fees for the said player. As Bret Green going to Wigan when part of his transfer fee helped pay for Travis Burns first years wages.
But if we get £100k from. Saints where are we going to get a replacement better or even as good as he has played this season at short notice when most of the dealings for next year have been done. With regard to contracts being renegotiated yes some do but mostly for the better of both parties not just one side of the agreement. The biggest culprit in all of these negotiations are the agents who undoubtedly whisper in there clients ears about other opportunities, not for the good of the player but the money they can make out of it.
I think I have said enough on this subject as far as I am concerned I have made what I believe is a fare comment and stick by it you may think different that is your right I respect what anyone has to say but nothing will change my opinion of players and agents who act in such ways Quote: Keiththered "Quote: Keiththered "Contracts are contracts how the hell can clubs plan for the future if players and there agents decide to jump ship with a year or so to go on there current deal.

Perhaps personal reasons rather than compassionate. I'm sure Rovers asked him what his plans were and I'm sure he told them.
If he or his wife want to have a career outside rugby (or Hull) what's wrong with that?
Its not like he is moving to a rival club.
Rovers gave him a chance when he first started out but he's repaid them for that IMO.

Dobson had a clause in his contract giving him the option to return to the NRL. He merely took up that option. The club tried to offload Lovegrove as he was not part of our plans and in employment terms would be seen to instigate his departure. Going all the way back to Gavin Miller is surely a bit much in the context of today's players. You and I are fans and see the club in a different way to the players to whom it is a job. A rugby career is short and a player has to do what is best for himself and his family. I do not know what occupation you follow but I am sure you do not approach it in an altruistic way and would not hesitate to change if it were in your interest. If a player's circumstances change and he can renegotiate his contract only a fool would not do so. Try looking at the situation from a player's point of view and not with the red and white bias of a fan. What is happening at our club happens at all sports clubs not just in rugby league.

30596_1286642206.jpg If there is no struggle, there is no progress. Those who profess to favor freedom, and yet depreciate agitation, are men who want crops without plowing up the ground. They want rain without thunder and lightning. They want the ocean without the awful roar of its many waters. This struggle may be a moral one; or it may be a physical one; or it may be both moral and physical; but it must be a struggle.

| What better way to celebrate my ten thousandth post than by wishing Rhys all the very best and thanking him for his unstinting effort and loyalty over the years.
Good luck Rhys, all the best to you and your family and thank you for everything.

I agree with that.
12 months ago Rovers were trying to force Rhys out, he didn't want to go, dug his heels in and vowed to fight for his place. He did just that.
Rovers still want him to go and his circumstances are such that it now suits him too.
Win win.
Whether your Donaldson's & McCarthy's offer more than him is debatable, only time will tell.

| If a man named Rhys Lovegrove puts his family first, before club, then that proves that he is a man of good character, despite his Welsh ancestry. Stop attacking him!

Don't think any true Rovers fan would criticise Rhys, he's acted with great dignity over the last 12 months and he goes with our best wishes.
