| Quote: Beverley red "That is one point of view, but if we think that way it hardly shows our faith in him or our ability to make sound descisions, it also wont help with recruitment if players know the coach could be gone before their career starts off, a one year rolling contract is a bit better but not much, would you join a job where your new boss could be gone before you qualify for sick pay?
at least it would make you think twice & look else where.'"
Situation of circumstance, given the financial situation. Also, according to a few on this forum, today is the day a new investor is getting announced. It would seem strange that your coach only gets another 12 months if a 3rd party is investing.
Any idea what time the investor is being announced?

Sarcasm is the lowest form of wit!
I'm a big supporter of CS so fingers crossed the HDM are right and he does stay.
However, if I were CS I would want to be reassured over the extent of the SC for next season; the futures of Paea and Dobbo would be high on my agenda.

Aye, but we've reached the point of it needing to be sorted one way or t'other.
I'd welcome it - I think he's done just about enough to get another year to at least complete a 'cycle'. 1. Weed, 2. Sow, 3. Reap; sort of thing. But even from his pov, I think next year does have to be one of progress, if the budget were to shrink again he's on a hiding to nothing. It seems likely that next year will see a couple of teams relegated - which brings us back to the 'clubs mortgaging their future to try to survive' argument (which is rational, despite the implied opprobrium, as the cynic in me doubts that there'll be enough trickle down to make the whole sport solution really work, and frugally managed 'death' isn't attractive). If next year is going to be more about surviving than progressing, I'd maybe look at alternatives.
Quote: PAC "I think he will end up on a rolling contract. Give him five years now and say he falls out with NH or any new owner in the space of the first 12 months. That would be a hefty pay off to cover the rest of his contract.'"
I think that is a decent shout in some ways - it [imight[/i, help us avoid the same destabilising speculation next year. Letting a coach's contract run into a final year is awkward, we've found. Alternatively it might mean that he's effectively viewed as permanently in his final year. What works for Leeds, mightn't work so well for us. 1 more year will be enough for us to know one way or the other, IMO - I'd like it to be 2 for the sake of stability, but for me, we've been too uneven to justify that sort of confidence.
Quote: PAC "3 years should be enough time to bring the youth through.'"
It depends what you take as your starting point. Making the most of what comes out of the 19s, probably yeah. If you're revamping the whole set up (which is probably more something for a DoR rather than a head coach), that is a longer term thing.

| Terrible decision, despite a half decent performance on Saturday, and an easy win against a clueless Wakefield side, we are gash. This decision will hit the club in the pocket, as pass sales will continue to decline, leading to a decline in cap spend.
I can't see more than 4 wins for the rest of this season, so that's 9th or 10th at best. We will be playing in front of 5000 regularly next season.

| I don't expect Dobson to leave just cannot see Hudge wanting to cash in on him because Nicholas is definately not his replacement in terms of skill.
If he does go then I would be worried about relegation but even with the team you have now your miles better than Cas, London, Wakey.
Didnt include Salford or Widnes as they seem to be trying to splash the cash so may improve but if they dont add them to the list also.

Did you post this on the wrong thread or is there a relevance I'm not spotting?

I thought you'd be pleased.
I think to a large extent that is a strategy or money issue, at least as much being down to CS. Give any of the other realistic options the same budget and remit, and I think you still face the same difficulties.

Ha ha Mystic Meg rises again!!!! Of course you are entitled to your opinion, but imo, I'm glad he has a new deal.
As for the FC fans commenting; didn't mum ever tell you, that sarcasm is the lowest form of whit? As for compare the coach, until you were handed the victory at weekend, you had a "massive" two more points than us! With, according to yourselves, a far superior team, more money, blah blah blah!
Congratulations Craig!!!!!!!!!

| Well done to CS, although I feel that it's more through default given our other problems already highlighted, rather than something he has earned.
On the positive note, we keep some form of stability within the players/set up instead of widespread changes a new coach would have brought. The negative (apart from Sir Stan's repetitive ongoing posts for another year ) there will be no widespread changes a new coach would bring and we continue as we are. Just depends which side of the fence you're on I guess.

Well thank you for letting me have my own opinion. It's why RLfans is so vastly superior to t'other place, where dissenting voices are stamped on quickly.
I look forward to another 12 months of excuses, defeats against cellar dwellers, and a continuing slide in our position (and gates).

Hey, I will gladly come on here and admit I got it wrong if we suddenly learn how to tackle. Until then, the stats don't lie.

Bet you feel like I did when Agar got his inexplicable extension on April Fool's day. That was for 2 years, to boot. Like a long tunnel of darkness stretching ahead with those making the decisions seemingly incapable of switching on the light.
I think Sandy's had a raw deal with resources and has been treated shockingly by Hudge in his recent media outpourings. My guess is he probably thought he was signing up to a completely different job after passing that aptitude test. But that doesn't make him a good coach, and so far I've seen very little to indicate he is one. Feel for you.
