30596_1286642206.jpg If there is no struggle, there is no progress. Those who profess to favor freedom, and yet depreciate agitation, are men who want crops without plowing up the ground. They want rain without thunder and lightning. They want the ocean without the awful roar of its many waters. This struggle may be a moral one; or it may be a physical one; or it may be both moral and physical; but it must be a struggle.

| Quote: Jake the Peg "There is no benefit to the community. the business centre is contrived to get the funding of rovers stand. As has been said, there can be fewer worse places in east hull for a business centre than the end of preston road. other than a few retail outlets there is no business there.
The council can't spend the money even if they had it. It's not possible, and even if it were do you think it would be a wise political move so soon after they made 1000's redundant?'"
I disagree. The development at Alexandra dock is going to be very important, for example. But it's a subjective judgedment and we're both biassed, so it'll only go around in circles. Plus I know I'm right.
If there were no money (from anywhere), then the KC has to be the council's fall-back, IMO. Letting Rovers rot would go down well with a section of Hull fans, and even I'd agree professional sports clubs should not in principle be subsidized by public money. But in practice they have been and are. The potential 'out' for the council is that it is possible that a significant section of the Rovers support might prefer to stay at CP and return to the Championships. There's no shame in being a semi-pro community club, if it is done with a positive attitude, rather than a bloody- minded refusenik one. There's something to be said for bloody-mindedness, of course - if it weren't for that there'd be no club for bandwagoners like me to support. But it can also be limiting - one way or another the club would have to adapt or die. Where that is, in terms of geography or which league, would be the big decision. And it's an uneven one, as 3k (for example) in the championship is maybe more sustainable than 5k in SL.
But that is all hypothetical. It sounds like the funding has been delayed again. It's getting to the point where impatience is justified. If this is the final delay, then (eventually) we'll get there. I think NH is saying that if there were another delay on top this, then at some point you have to say enough is enough and cut your losses. His preferred plan B would be the KC. If that isn't feasible he'd prefer to pass the baton on and let somebody else come up with a plan C. I've not checked the Mail yet, in fairness, but that is my general impression.
Thanks to dum-dum for my new avatar, btw. For avoidance of pitchforks it is just a little joke.

| If it's commercially viable I'd have no problem playing in West Hull, I've now lived away from the East Riding longer than I lived there, any sort of merger though and I'll stick to watching the Pennine League in Winter.

Fair point. However, SLE fully re-integrated into the RFL in 2002, so movement in both directions should be more straight-forward. While still painful for those left behind, the memory of the split is much more distant now.

This ties in with something I was told shortly after the Sun story was published. Seems that Plan B is already under discussion.

Don't be such a drama queen. We could travel over together in a little car festooned with dangly player shirt things - Welham 3, Yeaman 4, and a nylon zip-up bag stuffed with a flask of bovril and chocolate churros. How would that not be an improvement on your current matchday experience?

As lovely as that would be, minus the filthy churros obviously, the emotional investment brought about by nearly twenty years of standing on terraces staring into the distance thinking "why do I do this" would feel as if it had been Edit-AS up a wall.
