I've been wanting to give up for a while, this week is just a great opportunity, my smoking buddy at work is on holiday, the next two weekends activities would be quite difficult to smoke at so that should make that easier and then we go to New York at the end of October and you can't even smoke outside in New York.

I'm just doing cold turkey at the moment, I'll see how I go, if this doesn't work I'll try something else.

Quote: Sandra The Terrorist "I think Ms. Terrorist set some sort of holiday first.

Her natural skin tone is deathly pallor/light blue (think the Daz doorstep challenge kind of white), in the Mediterranean she feels a bit self conscious about this (as well us suffering several unpleasant incidents where local children have thrown stones at "The Ice Ghost" (Naples) and one where the people of a small out of the way Slovakian town wanted to "Burn the white witch as the crops will fail".) so decided to have a bit of a spray tan.
Quote: Sandra The Terrorist "]

On my first visit to Turkey around 15 yeras ago, 3 young boys followed me around a market for about an hour giggling & trying to rub the freckles off my arms, they thought it was hilarious.
I really burn if I sit in the sun, but if I'm sensible and use factor 1 zillion my arms & face tan quite nicely, well I say tan what I actually mean is all my freckles join up & I become one huge freckle giving the appearance of a tan. My legs on the other hand, nada.

We once went to Portugal, Ms. Terrorist was very good and stayed in the shade with factor fifty on all week, apart from the very last day when she sat with the rest of the party by the pool.

She took precautions, wearing a thing robe and towel over her legs, she was completely covered, except a very thin strip across her stomach which she left unintentionally exposed for a bout twenty minutes. The result was a ten centimetre red stripe, she looked like a slightly lop sided Rovers shirt.

Good luck with it. Think of all the nice clothes you can buy in Rovers shop with the money you save. 25 leisurewear products here for men, it says. 25! How long until you've saved enough to buy them all?

Have you tried patches or plastic cigarettes? They look fun.

I know a man who gave up smoking, drinking, sex and rich food. He was happy upto the day he killed himself.

Johnny Carson, I think.

I can slightly relate to it, too. I quit smokin' 8 years ago and still miss it.

The thought of wearing assorted sporting leisure wear is more frightening than cancer.

Not tried anything else, really need to stay away from this thread, forgetting about it's the best way!

Quote: Sandra The Terrorist "
Here we go, I like the idea of this game, although I must add, my favourite things change all the time.

Extra virgin olive oil from Fattoria di Cinciano.
Being European.
Pubs brewing their own beer.
Jil Sander.
Maj Sjöwall and Per Wahlöö.
Yohji Yamamoto.
Rock pooling.
Sangiovese.
A winding greasy road and a little car with too much power.
Many forms of music.
My ragu.
Sea food.
Winteringham Fields circa 2004.
Panzano.
Gil Scott-Herron.
Looking towards the top of a mountain at the beginning of the climb.
Jo Nesbø.
A night at the theatre.
Arriving in a city I haven't been to.
Planning a trip.
Many other things at different times.'"

I don't even know what most of these are. Panzano, what's that, a type of tank? When you start using foreign alphabets my inverse snobbery kicks in as its final evidence you've disappeared up your own @rse.

Which brings me to my new list - pet peeves.

People who, in a self service cafe, bag a table when the signs clearly say "Do not occupy a table until you have paid for your food".
Draughts (not the game, whistling winds through ill-fitting doors/windows)
Dog turd stuck in the much dimpled sole of a trainer
Fishbones
Other mums at the Wacky Warehouse
Coathangers
Rory McGrath
That feeling you get at the back of your throat at the start of a cold
Stagbeetles
Multi Storey car parks
Bagpipes
Windows crashing and Autorecover not working properly
Weak milky tea
Blackpool, especially the tower

Jo Nesbø, Maj Sjöwall and Per Wahlöö are people, writers. That's how they write their names.

Panzano is a little town in Italy that has a brilliant butcher called Dario Cecchini. As well as his shop he has a restaurant, no choice, thirty Euros last time I was there, mainly the nasty bits of meat that he makes into sublime food. Take your own wine, sit at a communal table with sixteen people from anywhere else in the world. It's great fun.

What's wrong with stag beetles?

The people sitting at tables is very annoying. Coach transfers to and from airports is another, loads of old blokes elbowing you out of the way and then taking the wrong case. Taxi is the way to go.

Coat hangers? Of all the things.

I'm with you on the bagpipes, terrible noise.

Anyone who goes to a Wacky Warehouse deserves everything they get.

Peeves -
Smug people.
'Somebody should do something about that' Really? That's your analysis?
Documentaries restating what they told you already. Useful if you've got severe dementia, I suppose.
Selby on a Sunday - errghh flashback.
The rest would break my rule on politics.

I love airports but only really for what they represent, ie the start of a holiday. The rest of it is awful. The families who insist that ALL FIVE members have to stand adjacent to the baggage carousel. No, just one is enough, everyone else to stand at a reasonable distance, please. The surge forward when the gate comes up on the screen or they call boarding. And people boarding without their row being called. Intending to get a full English breakfast, then getting stuck in queue behind 27 fat lads in Hawaiian shirts at 6.30am all going on a stag do to Prague and needing something to soak the Carlsberg up with. Taking your shoes off to go through the scanner. And the water thing. It's like some sort of test to see whether you really want to go or not.

I went to this on sunday www.eurogamer.net/expo/
It was my first convention and I got to play new unreleased computer games all day.
I want assassin's creed revelations NOW instead of having to wait until November.
