Quote bob bob bobin robin="bob bob bobin robin"Apologies if I offended anyone by my comments (had a few birthday scoops last night) and probably should have kept my opinion to myself. After being here a year, and then watching the SL games the next day on Fox, the difference in speed/intensity/skill is massive IMO. You do get some boring games here, but they're a lot less common than in SL. I honestly think Wigan & Leeds wouldn't make the top 8 here, they just wouldn't be able to produce it week in week out. Again, apologies for my comments if they've peeeed anyone off, but I genuinely do think it. Not proud to say it by the way.'"
Absolutely no offence taken on my part. I agree with you about the speed, intensity and skill factor of many SL games compared to the NRL.
That said I think the SL games involving 3 of the top 4 here last Thurs/Fri to which I and others have alluded in this thread had the sort of speed and intensity you are referring to as well as patches of skill to boot.
The problem with SL as things currently stand is that there has been a major gap in consistency and performance between the top 5 teams and the bottom 7 in SL this year. Similarly there are also some teams in the NRL who are off the pace with the best at the mo, such as Canberra, Gold Coast, Newcastle, NZW, Parramatta, Penrith and Wests.
I am sure our SL top 5 could compete with the NRL bottom 6 as things stand, which is no bad thing considering the current commercial and operational drivers that are stacked against the SL teams with regard to media money, salary cap and junior talent playing pool.
