Michael Smith was outstanding in our promotion season! Could've been one of the best if he had an ounce of heart and spirit!

I have to say I wouldn't mind someone of Michael Smith's ability in our team right now.

With all the other workaday forwards we have we could easily afford having one player with genuine quality even if he wouldn't run himself into the ground. Smith's ability to offload even when being gang tackled was exceptional. An arm would come out of the melee and anyone supporting would race away.

On the subject of Gardner I am sure Saints will have wanted assurance he would get game time before agreeing to his loan. That will be why he is being selected ahead of the returning Caro.

IMO it would seem strange to have two players of similar ability (why else would we be having this debate) and choosing to play another team's player ahead of our own.

Welham has looked much better against Saints and Wigan I think and I don't think dropping Eden and replacing him with Cockayne would do us any good.
Centres and wingers need time to build partnerships in order to be most effective, chopping and changing positions is not the way to do this.

Another good showing from the Hammersmith Express yesterday. If this continues, I may have to revise my thinking on the subject. Is that allowed on this forum, or are opinions cast in concrete?

Watching Gardner, mainly in warm up and he didn’t seem very integrated with the team, seemed very isolated and not taking part in any of the ‘groupy’ stuff. Maybe nothing in it but was certainly noticable.

He's done it for years at saints, I wouldn't read anything into it. Works on catching and stretching rather than the rest of the squad
