Perhaps we're selling somebody else? With the development of Salter and Brown, we do seem reasonably well stocked for backs. You can never have too much depth, of course, but there are more obvious priorities. Easier to judge, when we see the whole picture, I guess.
The strange thing for me is that he'd have been a better signing for nearly everybody else, but we were the only ones in for him. His England squad call-up - obviously it was a bit of a PR stunt, to show that McNamara looks beyond the usual suspects (though his form was good at the time, no doubt), but that in itself shows that it was felt that in the wider RL world that his past could now be left in the past. Another club might think 'he's had problems elsewhere, but new leaf, clean sheet etc, he's worth a go'. For us the problems were 'here'. Do we give him a clean sheet, or is it one slip and he's gone? Any embarrassments will be magnified at Rovers, but binning him off quickly after paying £30k would not be a good look either.
It doesn't even make much sense as a 'board buy' - if we wanted a versatile keepsake of 2006/7, why let Murrell go?

| Has CS asked for him to come back or is this an NH signing. If so, he doesn't seem to have paid much attention to the negative feedback coming from many of your fans.

Chris Heil is the closest we'll get I think.
[size*For clarity - to my knowledge Chris Heil isn't a murdering monster, Nazi or any other related bad stuff and was not comparing him to one directly either. Just name play only. Continue[/size

His hair is almost as bad as his chav tats circa 06>. Not as bad as Tommyfromhull though. That's a different level.
I'm in doubt BC does offer something, but with everything that he brings, plus a transfer fee - I agree, no point. Someone at the club really has a hard on for BC, more than God has a hard on for the marines it seems.

| Don't see the point myself. We sack him and then part with 30k to get him back. His a better player now, I doubt it.

| Ben has been good for Wakefield and brings enthusiasm that has often been lacking since he left, Honestly can't believe people have said that he's no better then what we have already.
Ben can play Fullback, Centre or Wing his versatility on the bench has already been proved in a red n white shirt on countless occasions, Not that I think he'll be on the bench he'll take a wing spot next year and be far better then Caro or Brown has been at any point this season.
Take out his off the field antics which is why alot of people dislike Ben and he's a very talented player.
People in the know saw enough of him to get called up for England this season.

I think everybody tends to put the failings of their team down to a lack of the qualities they most value themselves. I don't think we've been lacking enthusiasm so much as discipline and intelligence in our play.
He is a talented and versatile player, I won't pretend otherwise. But £30k? If it turns out we're spending big elsewhere, I won't mind so much, but that seems a lot for a club if it is counting the pennies. Shaun Ainscough is looking for a club, I believe.
People in the know might rate him highly, but on the other hand we were the only bidders for him.

| Rubbish waste of 30k. His wage demands will be double what Alex Brown would have played for, so that adds to the mistake.
No room for racists in the dressing room.

Think this is what sandercock is thinking he's a good utility player I was dubious about taking him back only because did we need him but he can play full back and it's proved we need another replacement full back so think its a good move
