I don't see the point in having a player like that, we pay players to win us games, not lose them!

If we had a product that cost 50p to make and we sold it for 40p what is the point in running that product? We don't get any gain, but we get a loss!!!

I can handle a couple of mistakes, but they can’t just be balanced out by a couple of drives up the pitch, if someone costs us 2 tries then that player has to be directly involved or even score 3 tries to make up for his error, otherwise that player is a liability!

Micky Paea lost us the game IMO, he has to be man enough to admit it to himself and make up for it against Wigan........................

Sorry for asking - what exactly did Paea do wrong on Sunday to cost us the game?

Not holding onto a ball whilst on the floor!

This was the big one for me, a real turning point that gave Wakefield belief going in at half time!

He only had to run it out with seconds left in the first half, but he knocked it on!

I said to my wife at the time that something like that can lose you a game, when I played (Winger) we used to have a toilet seat with a brass plate saying "Poo Head" (but the other word for poo!!!), this was given to the player who had made the biggest error in the game and he was made to wear it on the night out in which ever town we happened to be in (I had it twice!!), this was the error that effectively cost us the game (if we lost!) or just the funniest if we won!

I would have voted for Paea to get the toilet seat!

It’s not a bad thing knowing that people think you are at fault; nobody in my team wanted the toilet seat so we all made very few errors and had lots of success in the 90’s!

I missed the game last weekend & didn't hear any of the commentary, was Micky Paea the only one to make an error then? I know what your saying about where & when an error was made, but it seems a bit harsh to put the loss down to one player.

Players make errors, but some errors are bigger than others, if Mickey knocks on 10 meters away from the Wakey try line then its a different story, its all about opinion at the end of the day.

Im not starting a Mickey out campaign, but I am saying knowing that people think you can do better is not a bad thing, he is only human at the end of the day and it was only a game of rugby but if you make a really poor mistake then you should be told!

A basic error, yes - it happens. It only resulted in handing Wakefield possession on half way with 35 seconds left. Latus been unable to process that a kick from the scrum was a high probability and shot it in - contributed for Cockayne getting the ball. Dobson then grabbing @ Cockayne's neck, to give them a penalty didn’t help. As Rovers entire team then more or less expecting Wakey to take the two, completely switch off (some even had the back to the ball, I think) and Cockayne takes a quick tap to catch us well and truly with our pants down. Embarrassing stuff overall, but an excellent opportunist try from Wakey. I know, you can harp on about if Paea never knocked it would never had unfolded, but sport just doesn't work like that. You make an error, fine - it's how you/rest deal with it that really matters. We didn't deal with it.

Also, you+'Fun time' made ref to Paea costing us two tries - which was the other one?

If you genuinely are trying to pin the game on this one error in a game of multiple variable's and resulting outcomes, then you really are deserving of more than a toilet seat, you can have FAG for that.

I'm not suggesting you are. As I said, I didn't see or listen to the game so can't really comment on anything that happened.
I'm sure he, & whoever else will be kicking themselves over any errors they made regardless of what came after them. They shouldn't need telling by anyone.

Mistakes lose matches; it’s not a witch hunt, its pointing out that if this does not happen then we have an increased %age of winning the game.

That error by Micky was IMO the biggest in the game, the one that (even at the time) I said could lose us the game!

What is wrong with that?

Do we just allow players to make mistakes and say “never mind, better luck next time son”?

Or do we say “Micky, look at what happens here, we have 35 seconds left in the half and you go for a Hollywood drive down the flank when you should have just covered the ball and ran it in nice and steady, you ended up losing the ball on the floor and put pressure on our defence which resulted in a try, what do you think Micky?”

Mickey would responed..........

We could say........

“Mickey I believe this mistake was the biggest contributing factor to our defeat on Sunday, what are you going to do differently next time?”

What is wrong with doing this?
